Atlas Gym - Wednesday

She better not be here, Pounce warned as they entered the gym. Mayhap he'd better not said that as the words were barely spoken or someone in pink spandex dashed forward.

"Awwwwww! You brought the kitteh again!" Jessi squealed and leaned down to pick up Pounce.

Pounce instantly moved Beka's other side. Get her away from me!

"He brought himself," Beka said, shaking her head. "I think you'd better leave him be. He's easily scared."

"But I'm not scary! Kitties love me! Just watch," Jessi babbled, already following Pounce to attempt to pick him up.

Beka was rather impressed as Pounce hissed, his back up and his teeth flashing. And then he ran off towards the lockers.

"Awwww, don't worry. I'll go get him," Jessi bounced after the cat.

A long time later, Jessi returned to tell her that she couldn't find Pounce, but she'd not give up and she'd recover the pretty kitty soon. Beka decided it'd be better for everyone not to tell Jessi that Pounce had probably used magic to get back to the dorms. It'd be a much quieter shift.

Jonas hadn't seen Beka since before the severe storm this weekend so he thought paying her a visit wouldn't be unwelcome. With a few of the books he'd had with him in the common room still under his arm, he wandered inside.

Once there, he realized he had no idea where to go and instead spent most of his time staring at the unfamiliar building and the machines within. He'd get back to looking elsewhere in just a moment.

Luckily, he needn't go looking as Beka found him herself, carrying a pile of fresh towels. She was surprised to find him there, but she smiled.

"Did you take a wrong turn looking for the library?" she teased. "Hello, Jonas."

"No, I was coming to visit you," he said, tearing his eyes from the building to smile at her. "I just had books with me before coming out here. Hello, Beka. How are you?"

"I'm well," she placed the towels on the counter and turned towards him. "I'm glad you came to visit. Pounce said he'd keep me company today, but he ran off."

"Oh? Is he all right?" Jonas asked, brow furrowing in concern.

"I'm certain he's warm and comfortably sleeping on my bed," Beka said with a laugh. "He does not appreciate all who work here."

And since Jonas figured she couldn't mean herself, he found himself glancing around the gym for someone else.

"And I thought he had an immense amount of patience for that sort of thing," Jonas said, snickering. "I suppose I was wrong."

"He's a mumper and a brat," Beka said. "He'll have patience only when he chooses to have patience."

She shook her head in amusement. "How have you been?"

"All right," he answered, giving her a firm nod. "I was very cold this weekend and fascinated with how hard it stormed but I stayed inside and tried to keep warm."

"Which is best," she agreed. "It looked bad out there, I stayed in bed with Pounce. He's warm."

"Beka me lass," George announced as he wandered into the gym. "How d'ye fare?"

"Your lass?" she was allowed to laugh. "Well enough. How you're doing, my lad?"

That'd be hurting her head for a while.

"I think ye qualify as well as any an' better than most," he teased, beaming at her. "An' I'm happy and well-fed. Can't be askin' fer more."

"And warm," Beka added. "Tis strange how easily you grow used to this world's luxuries."

"Aye, there's that," George agreed, coming over to lounge against one of the machines that she wasn't using. "Think it's makin' us soft?"

"I know it's making me soft not having Evening Watch," Beka said and it made her return to the weight lifting.

He eyed the amount she was lifting speculatively. "Aye. Yer practically a marshmallow," he said dryly.

"I'm working so I'll not get scolded by my Watch Sergeant," she defended. "I feel like I'm doing naught most days." If you ignored the runs around the island she did every morning and evening. When there wasn't a blizzard.

Pounce is rather satisfied at making his escape and fooling Jessi. Not that it's a difficult thing to do.
