Tyler seemed cheerful as Fight Club gathered tonight, which might have been enough to make people worry if it hadn't been for the fact he was always happy when they got together after a few weeks off.

"Welcome back," he said. "No snow, no gremlins, just punching. Ghanima, got anything to say before we start picking matches?"

"You remember the rules," she said simply. "You with her. You two, and you with him."

"And him with her, him with her, and her with her," Tyler finished. "Questions? We'll be around."

He reached out with his other hand to ruffle her hair. "Hey. I thought you were supposed to be on my side."

"I am," Tahiri insisted, poking at his stomach to retaliate for the hair-ruffling. "I worry about you not being able to fit into a pilot's helmet someday if you get a big head."

"If I ever get my own X-Wing," Ben said with a little pout.

"Build your own ship, genius," Tahiri said, a little more mildly. Aw, look at the pout -- should she do something about that? Hmm . . .

Ben nudged his nose against hers. "I think Ender would have a fit if I tried to build a ship in the room." He smiled. "Or at least arch his eyebrows up and say something that was almost irritated."

"So don't do it in the room, and you won't risk Ender getting almost irritated. Problem solved," Tahiri declared, taking the opportunity to steal a kiss.

"Mmm," Ben said when he finally pulled back. "What'd I do to deserve that?"

"Who says you did?" Tahiri asked innocently. "What if I just felt like it anyway?"

"I want to know what to do so I can get kissed again," he said with a tiny smile.

"You could ask, for starters," Tahiri suggested, laughing. "Or just keep looking cute. Or, oh, here's an idea. Just keep being astral, and I'll keep wanting to."

Ben smiled, looking as cute as possible, and replied, "May I have another kiss, please?"

She could claim something to the contrary as much as she wanted to, but it would be a lie, so it was pointless.

She could also say yes, but that seemed like an understatement compared to trying to tackle him to the mat and kiss him. Tahiri was not going for the understated option.

Relatives around, Ben warned, but he didn't stop from returning her kiss.

Oops, Tahiri replied, embarrassment underlying her mental voice. You did ask in the first place, though.

Want to take this somewhere else, maybe? Ben suggested. Granddad's looking a little thermal.

Possibly because he'd already had one unpleasant experience involving his family members using their lips in (to him) untoward ways, even though Tahiri didn't know that.

Sure. Unless you want to get a spar in with someone first? Under the circumstances, it was a very generous offer.

Don't like any of the ones looking around for a partner, Ben declared. I'll spar with you later, maybe?

Sadly, not a euphemism.

Well, no. Or there would be flailing, likely mutual.

Spar later. Head somewhere else now, Tahiri suggested, tugging at his shirt a little.

Right behind you, he said, finally pulling himself back a bit so he wasn't being led by the lips out the door.

That would be awkward. And very, very obvious.

Tahiri chose to reach for his hand instead as she stood. "They can hit it out without us for once."

He twined his fingers through hers. "Exactly."

Tahiri gave his hand a quick squeeze and sent a pulse of affection through the Force. "Think they'll manage?"

"Oh, I think so," he said with a laugh. "It's a whole bunch of people who want to thump each other."

And Jak, who smelled really awful.

"So let's get out of here, before your grandfather decides to thump us," Tahiri suggested, moving toward the door.
