Caritas [Tuesday evening]

Robin had enjoyed the weekend so much that tonight, she was practicing making hot chocolate.

Tino, for his part, was starting to look ill.

"Here, try this one with cinnamon." When Tino gave her a look, Robin added, "Please, like I'm drinking any more. Come on, guinea pig, let's go."

[scarce until around 7:30/8 EST, and then around all night!]

Leda might seem like she had already had a bit to drink when she came in. Tino asked her what she wanted, and she asked him what he recommended. That threw him for a moment.

Puck was trying to be a nice guy tonight, because that seemed like the right approach, so he made sure to hold the door for Ellie when they entered Caritas and headed towards the lounge.

"What're you drinking?" he asked once they'd established a spot to sit. "I'll run and get it. You know they don't card here?"

Politeness definitely earned him some points. "Yeah, that's one way to ensure good business. So I think I'll have a rum and coke to start with."

"Be right back," he said with a quick grin as he sauntered over to the bar. After a moment he returned with her drink and a beer for himself, and he had managed to restrain himself from hitting on the hot older bartender.

(Mostly, 'restrained himself' had constituted Robin giving him dirty looks, but still.)

"And here you go. Everytime I come in here or buy beer, I expect to have some undercover cop jump out at me," Puck admitted, settling back down.

"Thank you," Ellie said, accepting the drink. "If it makes you feel better, I have never heard of uncover cops catching anyone drinking here illegally. At least not while I've been here. I expect the zombies to jump out at me more than cops."

"Right. The zombies." Puck just shook his head. "If they weren't, you know, over there," he nodded his head towards the stage, "I'd still be calling bull on everyone's 'oooh, beware the zombies and the ghoulies and the aliens!' stuff."

"I didn't believe any of that stuff when I first got here," Ellie admitted. "But then you get used to it after awhile."

"There isn't much of a learning curve," Puck agreed. "Not with those little scaly things a couple weeks ago."

"Yeah, I mostly stayed hidden from them." Like in the kitchen at the hotel. "Even with the weird stuff, I really like it here. It's more interesting than home. And considering I am from LA, that says a lot."

"You're from LA?" Puck was impressed. "And you came here...on purpose?"

Ellie nodded, taking a sip of her drink. "I got here over the summer thinking it was just a summer camp thing. I ended up liking it enough, so I decided to stay for school. I even got my younger brother to attend."

Puck considered that. "But LA's gotta be interesting, too. In a different way, I mean. Like, a normal way."

"And sometimes in a fake way," Ellie said with a smirk. "So where are you from?"

"Lima, Ohio," Puck said, making a little face. "And man, I'm glad to be out. Nothing happens in Lima. Ever. I mean, it snows and we have football games -- which are awesome -- but no one ever does anything."

"Guess it doesn't have a bar that cards," Ellie said, amused. "Did you play football?"

"Mm-hmm," he nodded, pulling on his beer. "I'm a lineman. Or I was, 'til I transferred. Sure they've probably replaced me by now."

"Too bad there isn't a team here," Ellie said. "I would have like to have seen you play."

"Yeah, I'm pretty good." Puck, don't preen. "It's kinda weird that there aren't any sports teams here, though. Do you play anything?"

"Not really," Ellie replied. "At least not in awhile. I prefer being a spectator. I always tried to make it to all the sporting events at my old school. There always seemed to be a party afterward."

Mostly, it was an excuse not be home.

"Excellent, excellent reason," Puck agreed. "It's nice that there's some consistency from Ohio to California. The post-win parties were always the best. Though from what I can tell, there're some decent parties around here, too."

"Sometimes, yeah. And there always seems to be people socializing in the common rooms," Ellie replied. "So you're team won a lot, huh?"

That sounded impressive.

'A lot' was a stretch. But Puck wouldn't be Puck if he wasn't lying to a girl somewhere.

"Totally," he replied, nodding. "Our school's been on ESPN a couple times."

Because of the Cheerios.

"Really?" Ellie was definitely impressed by that. "Wow, you must be really good then. ESPN? That's awesome."

"Yeah," Puck said, shrugging and pretending to be modest. "We're pretty cool. You know, for Ohio."

"Definitely cool," Ellie agreed. "And Ohio can't be all bad. It has the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame."

"And, you know, we're right next door to Detroit and Chicago," Puck assured her. "It's mere hours to awesome things. I'm jealous that you had the beach there and everything."

"I have to admit the beach and the weather were nice there," Ellie said. "But the smog? Not so much."

"It's just like thicker air, right?"

Oh, Puck.

"Sort of. Except it's caused by pollution," Ellie explained. "I don't miss that at all. Another reason I like it here."
