Luke's Diner [Sunday brunch]
After handwavily setting Sunday morning as a date for further groveling, Max swung by 'Dite's to pick her up, do a little bit of preliminary apologizing, give her flowers and some candy, and then escort her to the diner. It wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable, and that counted for a lot.
"So, on a scale from one to ten, how would you say my efforts to get back into your good graces are going?" he asked his companion, trying to sound like he was joking and mostly managing it.
[Luke's modded used with permission, Max is here for his date, but Luke's is a public diner. 'Dite also modded with permission. Apparently I am a modding machine!]

You just want food
You're here for the groveling

"Ask me again after breakfast." She gave him a smile and took a sip of her orange juice. "So, how's your friend? Is he okay? Can you tell me what happened?"

She wasn't going to whine, no.
Okay, maybe just a little. "You spent the day with him, and he didn't even tell you what's going on?"

Shaking her head, she flipped her hair back a little. "So, you went to a bar with him and talked, and . . . that's it? That's what made you forget our date at the Olympics?"
no subject
Well, he wasn't. At least in the same way Mitchell wasn't, but he could pretend to be hurt. And grin.
As for missing their date... "Sadly it takes a lot of my concentration to try to read someone as taciturn as Mitchell. I was spending most of my attention on trying to figure out what was going on." And on helping Mitchell pick up a girl... Which was a bit odd all by itself.

What was this? The goddess of love, showing insecurity? Someone alert the media!
Not you, Squirrels.

hotwarm smile. "And since it's pretty much the opposite, you really don't have to worry about that."He emphasized his point by reaching across the table to gently take her hand.

Aphrodite had considered holding out for jewelry, but there was time enough for that.

"And... well, maybe during the rest of the week, too?" He wasn't sure if he'd told her about going on the trip for the break or not... But he knew he hadn't suggested she join him. He hadn't been sure whether he should or not, but... it would be fun, so... might as well ask.

'Dite chuckled a little. "She said they were going to the Pajamas? But she didn't think she got the name right."

She jumped up from her chair, clapping, then made record time darting around the table to reach Max and kiss him. And kiss him again. Then she clapped again, moved back around the table and sat down.
Composing herself, she took a deep breath and schooled her expression.
"Well, yes, I think I could fit a trip into my schedule, sure."

'Dite had obviously forgotten that this was supposed to be trouble. "Oh, Max, thank you! You're not upset that I'll be disappearing for the day tomorrow, are you?" She pouted just a little. "I promise I'll be back tomorrow night!"

"We could always take off and go to the Olympics on Tuesday? Or Wednesday? Either one."

Well, she knew what she wasn't wearing to the Olympics.
"Does that mean you don't want to go?"

If her lip moved out just a fraction more, she'd be pouting.

"I only have the one room, so I'm afraid you'll have to share with me..."
