Oz, the Great and Terrible, let out a sigh as he looked around the empty lot. Wonderful. He'd told the others he knew a short cut. Who knew how long it would take the rest of the circus to catch up?

Well nothing for it but to wait. Hmm, maybe he could impress some of the rubes while he was here. Island folk were even better than small town folk when it came to audiences.

Okay, maybe this was a good place to get away from everything. No, there was someone here, as well. Jack sighed.

"Hello?" he called out.

"Hello!" Oz replied cheerfully. "Hello young man! How are you on this beautiful day?"

"I'm good. And how are you, sir?" Jack may not be a lot of things, but he was sometimes polite.

Who was this guy?

"I am marvelous. Though the rest of my caravan seems to have fallen behind."

"Caravan?" Jack looked past the guy. Nope. Nothing there.

"Yes you see I am working with a circus. But they foolishly ignored my advice about a short cut, and so now I must wait for them to catch up."

Oh, boy. "What circus?"

"The Spectacularo Sisters Traveling Extravaganza." he said proudly. "Have you heard of it?"

"...can't say as I have," Jack admitted.

The Wizard sighed. Clearly someone in the promotions wagon was not doing their job properly. "We are, if you will forgive the immodesty, one of, if not the greatest circuses, in these united states. Possibly even the world!"

"Really? Well, I hope you have a good time here. I can't recall a circus in town here. I can't wait!"

"Ah my boy it will be a show you will never forget. I, Oz, the Great and Terrible, personally guarantee it!"

"The great and terrible? Don't tell me you're a super villain or something?" Great. And he'd probably like clowns, too.

Oz chuckled. "Oh dear me no! It's merely a description to get across the power I possess, and must ever be responsible for."

"You have powers? Like, can you fly?"

Someone has ben living at Fandom a bit too long.

"Why my boy I have flown beyond the ends of the earth!" In a balloon, but that wasn't nearly as impressive.

"That's so cool! I've never been able to fly. People here can, some of them. That's what the radio said, at least." See? He listened.

"Can they really?" he asked, intrigued. Perhaps he'd wandered into another magical land like Oz? "What else can they do?"

"Oh, there's magic, turning green, swordsmanship, and really accurate gun shooting. It's neat!"

"Now how exactly does gun shooting go along with magic?"

"Because it's stuff I can't do?" Jack replied.

"Oh I see. Then when the rest of the circus arrives might I suggest you not try the target shooting game."

"Is it fun? I'll still try it if it's fun," he said.

"Oh I've heard many a bawdy cheer from that booth."

"I think that sounds like it's a good thing, right?"

The Wizard chuckled. "Yes it is a good thing." For the carnies mostly. Sometimes they loaded the guns with blanks.

Jack would probably have a better chance if it was loaded with blanks. "I can't wait for the circus!"
