Support Services Meeting: The Park, Friday After Classes

Since the weather was in fact halfway decent (if looking a bit like rain in the near future), the meeting had been moved back to the picnic shelters at the park, and Francine and probably OMG Morgana could be found surrounded by... er. Scones. Also coffee and J,GoB-provided doughnuts, but the scones were homemade. Just, um. Something Francine had to try.

"I know you guys who hop around to all the meetings have seen this before on Tuesday," Francine said, "because the fighters were talking about what to do if someone you know turns into somebody else who causes trouble: how do you stop them without hurting your friend. What we should look at, though, is what can we do in advance to make things as easy as possible on ourselves and everybody else when we wake up as somebody -- or something -- else? Leave ourselves messages? Make sure our friends know stuff to tell whoever we end up being? Hide things we don't want someone else in our body finding? Let's talk about that."

Arthur was there. He wasn't really glaring at Morgana, but the looks he threw in her hopefully present direction were equal parts disappointed, determined, and frustrated.

There was some pursing his lips in thought, too, while he waited for the meeting to die down.

Robin was here, and looking like he was in a good mood.

Morgana had been tempted to leave Francine on her own for a moment, but she wasn't about to let Arthur frighten her. She'd done nothing wrong, and if he chose to come and speak to her today, she would make certain that he knew that.

She had done a great deal wrong. Or at least stupidly.

Which is why Arthur did in fact approach her at the end. "Morgana."

"Arthur," she replied. "I got your message."

She didn't want to start right out by glaring but, well, it couldn't be helped.

"Good," he said, simply. "I'm taking you know why I'm here, so let's cut right to the chase, shall we?"

Arthur didn't wait for a response.

"You need to put an end to this before it gets worse. I've shown you a great deal of leniency so far, Morgana, to do as you like, but I'm not going to stand by and watch you threaten your own future like this."

Morgana sighed, and wondered what exactly Arthur thought was going on. "How exactly am I threatening my future by spending time with someone whose company I enjoy?" she asked.

"These people are different," he said, shooting her an irritable look. "But I'm sorry. If you enjoy his company, I'm sure Father and your future husband will be more than willing to look past the fact you've discarded what remains of your virtue. And he will try, if he hasn't already." Beat. "And if he has, I'm going to have to go find him and cut off his balls."

Don't sound so cheerful about that option, Arthur.

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I have not discarded my virtue by simply kissing a boy!" Morgana said. "He will not try to take anything I am not willing to give. Jacob isn't like that simply because he was born at a different time. He's a gentleman too."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"It's the 'willing to give' part that troubles me," he snapped. "You've been wafting about treating all of this as if there's no consequences to your actions here. You can't even manage this without flaunting it in everyone's faces, and quite frankly I don't trust either of you with it."

Jacob not just because he was dating his sister, but also because he was a giant knob, but even Arthur had the presence of mind to know that pointing this out wouldn't help his point.

... well, he had the presence of mind for now.

"And what exactly are you planning to do with him? This is going to end either in heartbreak, or in you getting bored of your toy and discarding it. Might as well end it before you get tempted."

"Teasing you once about spending time with Jacob at the dance is not the same as flaunting it in everyone's faces," Morgana said. "Right now, my plans are to keep things the same between us - spending time together and, God forbid, kissing him." And maybe some slightly improper touching, but God help the squirrels if they let that become public knowledge. "There is no reason to end things now."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"There is every reason to end it now," he said, "And the fact you saw fit to shove it in my face is worse enough to start with."

... If he found out there had been any slightly improper touching, then Jacob really could kiss his balls goodbye.

"You're too naive to be involved with these people. He didn't even have the common decency of speaking to me before beginning this ridiculous pursuit of you, and you seem to have forgotten who I am to such an extent that you thought teasing me at a dance was somehow appropriate."

"Francine and Katina are these people too, but you have no problem being friends with them. Is it different because I find Jacob to be handsome, or is it because I'm too naive to possibly know how to interact with people without your guiding hand?" Morgana asked.

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not trying to date Francine or Katina," he shot back. "And no one back home would be particularly interested in the state of my innocence."

Which was good, considering that it had scarpered years ago.

"Morgana, I am trying to protect you, since you're not exactly doing a bang-up job of it yourself."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"But I don't need to be protected from Jacob. He's a good person, who's done quite well at protecting me on his own, I might add. You cannot think the worst of him simply because I chose him and you didn't."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Morgana, if we were home, I would be elated to find you so flattered by someone, especially if it meant we could marry you off and be rid of you," he said, a bit testily, "Even if he is a complete cock."

... There we go then.

"But there are too many risks here, and you're not thinking clearly."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Morgana's eyes narrowed at the bit about being rid of her, like she wasn't dying to be rid of him as well. "What risks are there here that cannot be found in Camelot?" she asked.

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Both of them. Would love to see the other go.

Yep.

"Oh, I don't know," Arthur said, "You could lose your innocence because he's too pig-headed to admit we're entitled to our own ways. My god, Morgana, if father was here, he would've had him executed by now."

Or at least chased off with a heavy sum. Arthur wasn't sure why he hadn't tried to pay Jacob off, beyond the irritating little Merlin-voice in the back of his head telling him it was a stupid idea.

"The only protection we have here that we can trust is ourselves, and I don't care about what fancy you've taken to this guy that makes you think you can trust him." A pause. "For that matter, I'm not staying in this godforsaken place a minute longer than I have to, and neither are you, so seriously, give it up."

"If Uther was here, half of the people on this island would have been executed by now," Morgana shot back, letting including Merlin go unsaid. "I would have thought that by this point in our lives, you would have realized that you can trust me. You don't have to trust Jacob, but trust me. Trust that I won't let him do anything he shouldn't. As for giving this up, I will do so, with great reluctance, when we leave, but not a moment before."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur made an intensely frustrated noise in the back of his throat. "If he as much as touches you below the waist or underneath your clothes, I really am cutting off his tackle," he warned. "I'm not happy about this, Morgana. Father would have my head."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"He doesn't have to know. I don't know what your plans are, but I don't intend to tell him half of the things that have gone on here, if that," Morgana said. "I wish you liked Jacob, I really do. It isn't my goal to make you unhappy, no matter what you may think."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur ran a frustrated hand through his hair.

"Father's not hearing anything about this place other than that we had an interesting time at the castle in Northumbria he sent us to," he said, tonelessly. "Too much has changed." He dropped his hand. "Morgana. It really is just the three of us out here."

He'd never ask for her support, but that was the closest he'd ever get.

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"It doesn't have to be. Not here. We're allowed to have friends, Arthur. Do you really think that if we'd ended up somewhere else, wherever Uther expected us to be, that we wouldn't have made friends?" Morgana asked.

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"We'd still be Father's subjects," he pointed out. "You and I are in no position to have what these people do. You know that. And it's complicated enough that Merlin's a wizard and he won't go."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"He will be coming back with us, won't he?" Morgana asked. "Uther doesn't have to know. No one has to know, if he's careful with his magic."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-13 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"You and I are both going to have to keep him safe," said Arthur, in that tone of voice that implied he'd rather be headdesking right now. "He absolutely refuses to leave my side, and I'm not about to let him get executed."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[identity profile] nevertobequeen.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do not wish to see him executed either. I will do whatever I can to keep him safe," Morgana said. "I promise."

Re: Talk to the Girls

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-03-14 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Sometimes, I think both of you make it a game to see which one of you can make my head explode first," he complained. "Both of you aren't safe."
