Caritas- Saturday

Jaina had requested off today, due to the fact that she'd be graduating when she should be starting work. And though she hadn't known it at the time, she would also be busy being a child, being a kitten, fighting a monster, and singing. Work was not a priority today.

So it was Tino who opened up Caritas. Clothed. And wearing a graduation cap, just because.

Graduation excitement over, Romeo ordered a beer from Tino and sat back to watch for the people he planned to meet at the bar.

He pulled out his journal to jot a few thoughts as he waited. The island had changed; a year had come and gone. People looked older. Tino stayed constant.

While he wrote, Yurika was weaving her way over to where he sat, somehow managing to hold four shots of tequila without spilling. "Tada," she sang, setting them all down. "Look what I got for us!"

Romeo reached out a hand and herded the tequila toward himself. "This should start me off," he said, feigning puzzlement. "But what will you drink?"

Other things that were constant: the sun, the moon, and an orange blur tackle-glomping Romeo from behind.

"Here I am," Romeo agreed obediently, and twisted to try to give Rikku a squeeze. "It's amazing to see you, you look beautiful. I don't think I realized you were coming!"

"Aww, thanks!" she said, bouncing. "I almost forgot what weekend it was? But I wanted to see everybody. And give them hugs and ask lots of nosy questions about what they've been up to. What have you been up to, anyway? I totally meant to look for you at the ceremony but there was a huge crowd and all I saw were heads and heads and heads and none of them looked Romeo-shaped."

"Is my head so very odd-shaped?" Romeo asked, still grinning. "I've been up to ... college classes, mostly. Trying to speak Japanese without sounding a fool. What have you been up to?"

Mat nodded companionably at Tino. "Wine, and keep it coming," he said, running his hand through his hair.

He took another large gulp from his goblet. "What a stupid bloody title."

"Your mother?" she asked, tilting her head at Mat. "I don't know that I've ever heard you mention her. Can you climb out a window, make a break for it tonight?"

Running away from home totally solved your problems. Really.

"Mother is her title," Mat explained. There had been some wine. "The bloody Amrylin Seat. Egwene. Wearer of the bloody ugly stole. She's my ride home, as it were. We leave tomorrow."

Elena was at the bar, waiting for the rest of her Turk posse. Or anyone else she was hoping to run into tonight. It was a nice central watering hole, wasn't it?

... Look, the Seventh Heaven was nice, but Reno only went there to ogle Tifa's tits. The booze there was shit.
