Caritas | Sunday

Graduation was a fun time for everyone with all the guests, cake, and hugging happening around the island.

Well, everyone but Tino. He never seemed to get to leave.

Sad.

But there was a party at Caritas tonight and Clark decided he could go the extra mile to make the lounge look a little festive. Blue and gold paper streamers and balloons awaited any graduates, birthday boys, and friends who might stop in for a drink. Or a balloon animal - if he could figure out how to make something not a snake.

"Sammy and I were born to be... That sucks!" The more he heard, the less he liked the reality Cas came from.

"Quite a bit, yes. When you learned that the angels orchestrated your blood line, you declared us 'Team Free Will'. And then you decided to throw yourself at Zachariah."

But Castiel wasn't bitter. Oh no.

Team Free Will sounded like an idea, but... "I think I'd rather throw myself at Vkandis," Dean said. "Especially since everything you've told me about Zachariah makes it pretty clear he's a douchebag."

"I actually asked the other you early on about Vkandis. I'd forgotten he didn't follow the faith."

"He would if he'd experienced what I had," Dean said confidently.

"Yes, well." Castiel took a long drink. "You're a great deal more fortunate than your counterpart in my world was. You, for instance, have a god who cares."

That isn't the kind of thing you expected to hear from an Angel of the Lord. "And you don't?"

It really, really wasn't. "God only speaks to one angel. But he sent us a message. Back off and don't bother finding him. He didn't want anything to do with us." Castiel took a long pull from his drink. "I believed in him."

That little story probably went a long way in explaining why Castiel was currently being bitchy and getting trashed -- though not why he was damp, shirtless, and bandaged up.

That really sucked. "I'm sorry," Dean said. "But, look at it this way, you got back here, so someone somewhere is looking out for you."

"I suspect the island arranged it, somehow. It certainly was not my father, as I had believed."

"Sorry," Dean said again. "Father issues suck. If it helps, I'm glad you're back. And I'm not going to be letting anybody use me as a vessel. Promise."
