Graduation was a fun time for everyone with all the guests, cake, and hugging happening around the island.

Well, everyone but Tino. He never seemed to get to leave.

Sad.

But there was a party at Caritas tonight and Clark decided he could go the extra mile to make the lounge look a little festive. Blue and gold paper streamers and balloons awaited any graduates, birthday boys, and friends who might stop in for a drink. Or a balloon animal - if he could figure out how to make something not a snake.

"Oh. Well, I'm sure if they were after him he'd still say no," Chuck said. He believed it too, after seeing how determined he was during the whole Jacob thing a few weeks ago.

Castiel nodded. "I believed that, too. For a long time. But even Dean has his breaking point."

"You can't judge this Dean the same as the other one," Chuck said. "Different people around him, different religion, that stuff changes things."

"But he remains human. All of you have a breaking point." He shrugged, leaning against the bar. "So do we. I used to think that was part of a plan."

Man, Chuck wished he hadn't lectured Castiel on drinking too much because he could really use a couple shots now himself. "So what if there's no plan? I'd rather decide things for myself."

"As you've said, yes. I'm beginning to see the wisdom in that."

Chuck never thought he was doling out wisdom before. It was a weird feeling. "The whole free will thing is cool. Just so long as you don't make too many bad decisions. That doesn't end well."

"That would be why they're called 'bad' decisions, yes."

"Well some bad decisions are fun and don't really have too many consequences," Chuck said. "Like drinking a lot or having a one night stand."

"I thought you were trying to warn me against heavy drinking?"

"I'm just saying you shouldn't do it all the time," he said. "It'd be pretty hypocritical of me to say you shouldn't do it at all."

No, he'd leave that conversation to Sam.

Castiel nodded slowly. "It was moderately difficult to be effective in an emergency, last time."

"What, did you fly into a wall or something?"

"To be fair, I was propelled there by the Whore of Babylon."

"Holy shit." That was a powerful hooker. "That's pretty screwed up."

"It is a creature foretold to accompany the Devil out of Hell," Castiel pointed out.

"Ohhhh that kind of whore," Chuck said, pretending that he had totally heard of that sort of thing before. "Yeah, okay, that makes more sense."

"I wouldn't be laid low by a mere sex-worker." Castiel studied his bottle for a moment. "Also, I would try to reform them before having someone run them through with a stake."

"I'm sure they appreciate that," Chuck said. "I think they have enough problems without having to worry about being staked."

"Most likely, yes. Though theirs is a life of sin."

Chuck shrugged. "We all have to get by somehow."

He never understood why whores got a bad rap. Just some chicks trying to make money.

"Yes," said Castiel, taking a long drink from his bottle. "I suppose you're right."
