Sure the temperature outside was finally dropping below eighty, but within Atlas Gym, the heat was building.

There was no music.

There was no air conditioning.

There was only a hot and sweaty Russian who had spent the morning dragging old, dust-covered fans out of storage and setting them up to provide some relief to the Jazzercise participants who were literally going to be sweating to whatever oldies they could sing today.

Dimitri propped the doors to the gym open, hoping for a little natural air circulation while he went through his own workout, shirt getting heavy with perspiration. What? Like he was going to just hang out because of a little heat.

Atlas Gym was open for business!

"Hrmp," she said, making a face. "Not possible. They're not cool enough for a liger."

Not that she was possessive at all.

"Of course not," Dimitri agreed, noticing her attitude there and maybe sharing it just a little. "I also think they'd fall out of a tree."

Rose grinned a little. "K-I-S-S- ow, you pushed me out of the tree? Yeah, I could see it happening."

"Meanwhile she'd probably be screaming all of this," Dimitri realized. Such a loud girl. Ugh.

"We should focus on something else."

"So long as they don't involve my discussing things that are boring?" Dimitri teased.

With a smirk, Rose took a deep breath, obviously fortifying herself. "You can discuss boring things. I can handle it."

"It's too hot to torture you," Dimitri said, trying not to laugh at her fortification.

She looked up hopefully. "No reports today?"

"I think I can save them for tomorrow morning, when you're mentally prepared and the papers won't get wet from being in the air." Okay, so it wasn't that humid.

Which was helpful other than the thought of dealing with boring report stuff at 7am. But better than now.

"Sucks when things get wet just from being in the air," she repeated, unaccountably amused at the phrase.

Dimitri leaned down to reach around her and flick at the hair trying to stick to her back. "Sure seems that way."

She made a face at him, standing on her toes to brush away those stray bits sticking to his forehead. "Bet this doesn't happen in Siberia."

It didn't happen in Montana either which was really the point for Rose.

His eyebrows wiggled as the hair tickled across his forehead. "No, for once, you're right about Siberia." And didn't he just want to frown at her being right given how often she was so incredibly wrong.

"Hey, comrade, I'm always right," she teased, grinning at the eyebrow wiggly thing. "You just don't wanna admit it."

"If that was true I wouldn't have just admitted you were right," Dimitri pointed out, reaching to give her shoulder a squeeze as he walked past her.

"I said always," Rose pointed out lightly, turning as he walked by.

"You can't always be right," Dimitri reminded her, glancing her way with a good deal of affection as he put away the water bottle and slung a towel over his shoulder. "And you'd be mad if I pretended you were."
