The Park, Monday Afternoon

Whether the Gremlins had planned, and manipulated it, or if it was just some weird coincidence, Oz, Tim, Tully, Leda and even Billy (taking a break from finals to hang out on the island) had been in one place at once. And fell to the biting teeth of their attackers.

Now, Johnny "The J" Johnson of Darkstone Entertainment had gathered his dream cast (Nathan Fillion Tim, William Shatner Tully, Mark Hamill Billy and Elvira Leda, to re-make Metropolis Dystopia.

"Actors!" he cried. "Be you ready?"

They indicated they were indeed. Though Shatner of course maneuvered his way to the front.

"All right! Elvira, your dress is perfect. Shatner, pause just a little more between sentences. Mark you manly man you you're made of wonderful. Nathan...everything you're doing is wrong."

He held up his imaginary camera. "Rolling, and...action!"

"We love you Anakin, oh yes we doooo!" Elvira began to croon to Mark Hamill. "We love you Anakin, and we'll be true. When you're not near us, we're blue!"

"Cut!"

[IDK. But the post is open.]

Jimmy just stared, wondering what was happening, and how he could avoid it.

"A star? A star of what?" Oh, great. He was seen.

He knew what actors were. "What's a movie?"

Oh, poor off-world lad.

"What's a camera? How can they watch anything on a room divider?" he asked the ringleader.

"Shatner save me." John said.

Bill stepped forward, relishing being put back in the spotlight where he belonged. "A camera..my boy is a device used for recording images. Once upon a time they could only record still images. Like a painting only it happened almost instantaneously and didn't use paint."

He began to get into the tale. "But then....men, great men...men of vision figure out a way...to record moving images by taking hundreds of still images and then showing them to people at such speed that the pictures seemed to be moving."

With him so far?

"So it's another magical device," he stated, wondering if the man had been hit on the head. One of the Beggars was like that, and slow on one side.

"It seems like that." Shatner nodded. "Technology, sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic."

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"That explains much. Technology is magic in this place." No, he heard what the man said. Both ways made sense, finally.

"That might be literally true." Mark Hamill put in. "What with Aliens and Witches here." He of course was totally at home with a mixture of mystic forces and advanced tech.

"I've dealt with aliens before," Jimmy stated, not bragging. Midkemia had about as many different varieties of sentient life as you'd find in any given cantina. "And those who use magic."

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"How about Aliens who use magic?" Elvira asked, with a flirtatious smile.

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Funny story, that," Jimmy said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

Not wanting to be left out of the conversation, Nathan stepped in between Mark and Bill and draped his arms over their shoulders in a comradely way. They both gave him looks that said they weren't so sure he'd earned that yet.

"Oh we love funny stories." he smiled. "Just be careful not to upstage anyone here. You know, actors and their egos."

"It's a long tale best told by a bard while you sit behind a glass of ale," he stated. This was not the time for a discussion on the Riftwar.

"Let's just stick to the ale," Jimmy said, ready to take a step, or several steps, back.

Someone had never seen any beer ad with the "I love you man" phrase.
