Imperial Junke Yard, Friday

Marcus wasn't actually doing anything much beyond existing, just leaning on a pole, idly staring out the front gate at the street beyond.

It took him a minute to notice the canvas duffel bag which appeared beside him.

Warily, he eyed it, waiting for it to sprout teeth and leap, or melt into a puddle of toxic ooze. When it simply continued to sit there, looking duffel-like, he approached, flipping over the rather prominent label tied to the top. Guilt over killing his brother, it boldly proclaimed.

He stared at it for minute, jaw working, then turned on his heel and stalked off. He returned several minutes later carrying a gas can and a matchbook.

After liberally dousing the duffel bag in gas, he stepped back, struck a match and tossed it on.

The whump of ignition was satisfying, the flicker of the flame even more so, and the bonfire of baggage lit the junkyard with an oddly cheerful glow.

Marcus leaned back against the shed and watched it burn. Some days he really hated this island.

"What's cooking?" Kyle asked, walking over. Yeah, his hair was still odd colors in different places.

"Return fire from a successful ambush." He was maintaining its success anyway. "It's dye," he clarified.

Kyle shrugged and watched the burning luggage. "She has faster reflexes than me, but me and George outnumbered her, so it was a fair fight. Is that all you have?" He jerked his head towards the flames.

"I left mine behind." Because he could. None had appeared since leaving his room.

"No it's not," Kyle said. "Did you read the tag of the first one before you burned it? Throwing it on a fire might get rid of bag, but it won't get rid of what it said on the tag. That's not permanent."

His point was made and it was a bad day. "I'm going to the mainland Saturday to resupply," he said, changing the subject to the reason he was actually here. "Need anything?"

Kyle shrugged. Anyone else might have taken the stoicism personally. Kyle took it as being Marcus. "Let me know tonight if you think of anything." With that, he left Marcus to his fire.
