Pixie Dust, Monday

It was an unusually busy day at Pixie Dust.

First, Makita had some tidying and organizing to do. Cleaning the dressing rooms, washing the mirrors, vacuum the store, and straighten the racks. Then it was time to sit back and wait. And try to stay out of the way.

Pixie Dust was open, and unusually tidy given which shopgirl was working today.

Rilla (http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z1/sith-happened/childrensclothing-2.jpg?t=1276525165), dressed like any nice girl from 1913 would be, glanced around the shop, at an absolute loss about where to begin. "Help?" she asked softly.

"I'll try," Makita replied honestly, tossing her magazine aside and looking Rilla over. "I think you look pretty."

Of course, this was coming from a girl who lived in cargo pants, t-shirts, and combat boots. She tended to think anyone who was well put-together looked pretty.

"What do you want to try? Or what's your favorite color?"

"I like green," Rilla offered. "I'm not quite ready for pants, though, I'm afraid," she added with a slightly nervous giggle.

"Okay," Makita said easily, wandering towards the racks. "Or you could try something like this? Are any of these close?"

"I like the first one very much," Rilla said with a smile, "as long as the skirt was included. The shirt is a lovely color."

"I like tunics a lot for special occasions. I feel pretty without worrying about falling over because the skirt is too tight," she confided. "And if you get a black skirt too, then you can mix and match as much as you like."

"But you need more color!" If there was one thing Makita missed about her life before the war, it was the chance to wear color. She darted off again, looking for something in particular. "Especially for when you want to look pretty!"

She re-emerged a moment later, holding up a new item (http://www.cbazaar.com/kurti/readymade-tunics/forest-green-kurti-p-krdr536.html). "Yes or no?"

Rilla's eyes lit up. "Very much yes."

"What would make me look the most Bohemian?" Christian (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/2504126.html?thread=161948862#t161948862), who had his own special priorities, asked.

"Well, what's Bohemian?" Maki was kinda special too, sometimes.

"It means you believe the most important things in life are truth, beauty, freedom, and love," Christian explained. "That you're artistic and not soulless. I'd like my clothes to reflect my spirit."

He glanced down at his conventional white shirt and trousers. For some strange reason, his parents had been reluctant to fund his purchase of velvet morning coats and bright silk cravats.

"I believe in freedom, but it's rarely beautiful," Maki snorted, but she pulled out a men's fashion magazine from under the counter. "Let's start at the beginning. Do you like colors?"

"I love colors," Christian said energetically. "It's too bad men's clothing is so dull."

"It kinda is," she admitted. "But we can find colors, and try to make it, um, jazzy. That is the term, yes?" She still had trouble with English terms on occasion, but only the ones that didn't translate well to 'gorkan.

"I don't do showy so good, but with a hat, this could be a good start." A few t-shirts joined the pile. She darted back over to lay them on the counter. "Any of these close?"

"I like the vest and that last jersey shirt," Christian commented. "The pink is a bit too pink."

"I hope this doesn't mean I can't come back later when there's less of a crowd," Proto smirked slightly. "I mean, I'm not exceeding my visit quota, am I?"

"You could just stay after the rest of your class leaves, and then it's just one visit," she pointed out, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. "Hi, handsome."

Proto laughed and reached out to lightly run his finger across her jaw. "How'd a genius like you wind up with me?" he asked playfully.

"And hello, beautiful." Traditions had to be respected, after all.
