Luke's Diner, June 21 (Monday)
Lacey did not want to talk about Friday in any way, shape or form, so of course it was the first subject that came up when the busboy arrived, and Lacey, being a horrible liar, was unable to avoid it.
She also blustered so much that by the time the rest of the staff was on hand and the story had gotten around, it had been mangled enough that no one could decide if she'd been a stripper, a groupie, or if she'd gone and gotten a dozen piercings they couldn't see. This, luckily, meant that no one questioned the need to wash, dry, and put away the rest of the new set of dishes that'd been necessary to order after some random, bizarre Fandom incident left the diner with half its plates and mugs smashed by a sledgehammer on Saturday morning.
Whew.
Luke's is open, and not so -- ooh, new dishes.
[OOC: And also OCD-free today. Just for once. SO THERE.]

There was none of that here, only delicious food and paranoia. Angua breathed in a deep, happy sigh as she sat on her usual stool at the counter. And then:
"Oooh, new dishes?"
no subject
"Hi, Angua," she said a bit frenetically, more than happy to have an excuse to avoid the kitchen guys for a few minutes. "Yeah, there was a little bit of an . . . an impulse decision. I just decided I wanted something a little more decorative."
Where the plates had been plain before, the new ones had one very thin, light blue line as a border. It was a drastic difference. Really.
no subject
Angua shrugged a little. "I like them; they're nice."
Which was possibly one of the most detailed conversation she'd ever had about kitchenware.

. . .
Lacey hoped her voice didn't squeak too much when she turned around and called into the kitchen, "Boys, how hot is the water you're using in the sink in there?"
Flail, Lacey, flail! Think about adding that to the job application!
Wait, no. Don't do that.
"That's a bit of a far cry from people who refuse to eat if the fork isn't in the right place on the napkin, isn't it?"
no subject
She nodded. "People," she said, "are a strange breed indeed, aren't they?"
