Imperial Junke Yard, Wednesday

The junkyard was open, but Marcus wasn't paying much attention to anyone who might be coming or going.

He was pondering whether it would be some sort of automotive sin to attempt to pair parts from a '57 Caddy with parts from...actually, he wasn't sure what they were from, but they were sleek and smooth and looked like they could possibly break the sound barrier all on their own.

Granted, sinning wasn't something that Marcus would usually give a damn about, but this was different. This was about cars.

[No, it's not Friday or Saturday (sorry), but a post was needed!]

Hiccup was here because Mr Bond had told him to be here.

Well, sort of, but it was definitely Mr Bond who was to blame for Hiccup arriving at the junkyard this morning. He couldn't, however, be blamed for the dragon. That was all Hiccup.

"Hellllooo," he called from the gate. "Anyone home?" He exchanged looks with Toothless. "Maybe we just go in? Maybe help ourselves to whatever all of that is?" He gestured at the various things visible from the gate. "It's called a junkyard, after all, probably no one would mind..."

Hiccup and Toothless exchanged another look. "Why yes, yes it is. Definitely a dragon, no mistaking it for, I don't know, a dog or a rat or something." There was something very familiar about the man in the junkyard and Hiccup had to ask, "You're not part Viking by any chance? Maybe got some Norse blood in you?"

Toothless cocked an ear and looked curious, clearly echoing the question.

"See, that's the problem," he said brightly, not fazed in the slightest. He'd had years of Viking disapproval, a whole village's worth; this was nothing. "I don't know. I want to make a machine, but simple, something that I don't need a forge for, because I didn't think to bring one and there's only so much a dragon can do." Toothless' ears flickered and he gave a small snort of agreement. "So I need the bits for it, and I heard that this would be the place to come." He waved his hands around for emphasis. "Except I don't have any idea what I'm looking for, except that I'll know it when I see it." He paused. "Pretty sure I will, anyway."

Hiccup opened his mouth, closed it, glanced at Toothless, then managed to confine himself to the requested one word answer. "Yes." It wasn't easy.

The light in Hiccup's eyes would have been a warning to anyone who knew him well. It was positively gleeful. He couldn't believe he'd just been given free run of a place filled with so many interesting possibilities. "No setting things on fire, definitely not," he promised with a grin as he and Toothless walked through the gateway and into the junkyard proper.

He paused, looking around and getting his bearings, then headed for a pile of steel bits, all shapes and sizes, and started going through them. With Toothless' help, of course.
