Jaina had made the mistake of listening to radio this morning, and so she wasn't in the best of moods when she got in to work today. She was trying not to take it out on Tino, but as he was staying as far away from her as he could, she didn't really have the chance. Mostly she was just decidedly not thinking about it, and moreso not talking about it.

And when she had some down time, she was trying to arrange a good time to go home for a visit. She just needed to get away for a little while.

Today is a good day for doing nothing.

It had been a while since Aquaman had an evening to just kick back and relax at the local watering hole, and he decided that today was quite a good day for it indeed! So he sidled up to the bar and cheerfully placed his order for a nice, cold mug of the best darn root beer they had.

Jaina surprised herself by being grateful for a customer today. "I swear, I never expected root beer to be a popular drink at a bar till I came here," she admitted, passing one over to him.

"Oh, but it's a classic!" declared Aquaman, fondly. "This place really does have excellent root beer, too. Not to mention, there are far fewer embarrassing side effects to root beer than the real thing, don't you think? Barring, of course, the occasional hiccup or burp!"

"I'd have to agree with you there," Jaina told him, nodding. "No horrible feelings the next morning, nothing to regret, you can remember everything..."

"And it's mighty tastier, too!" Aquaman boomed brightly, lifting his mug and taking a good, hearty swig. When he lowered the mug, he didn't seem in the least bit aware of the foam that has clung to his moustasche, or, if he did know it was there, he seemed awfully pleased about it.

Hmm, dilemma. Jaina didn't know whether to address it if he was pleased about the foam, so she made a subtle upper lip-scratching gesture. Maybe it would tip him off, and if not, she wasn't worrying about it.

"I was about to tell you you might not be drinking the right alcohol but that might mean I've been working at the bar too long," she realized.

Subtle was, unfortunately, not a word that existed in Aquaman's vocabulary, and so the root beer mustache remained.

He grinned, just faintly. "I do hear it's an acquired taste, but, I must say, you don't look old enough to have been drinking it long enough to acquire it..."

"I'm twenty-two," she said. "Trust me, that's more than long enough to acquire it. And decide I'd really rather not."

On anywhere outside of Fandom, of course, that would give her only a year, really. And Aquaman never really did approve of the lower drinking age here on the island, but he respected laws as they were.

He took another swig of root beer, increasing the size of his facial foam.

"Smart move, that!" he said approvingly.

It seemed like a good night to go to the bar, if you asked Deadpool. A nice, bar-y night.

For a bar.

...look, he just wanted a beer without having to answer what it was from a toddler, okay? Don't you judge him.

"Beer me, chick who is old and a student!"

Okay, now she had to say something. "Um, you've got a little..." she said, doing the lip scratching thing again.

"I am not a student!" Jaina protested. "I had the trial by fire and kitten and Celine Dion song. I am fully graduated here."

"You secretly loved that song, don't you lie."

"A little...?" asked Aquaman, trying to do his best to think of what filled in the blank and failing.

"Dimple?" he tried, and then pulled himself up proudly. "Yes, I know. They're genetic!"

"Congratulations." All right, he was awesome for her mood. Fine. "A little foam."

"You take that back or no beer for you," she told him.

"Her gentle melodies," Deadpool continued, unrepentant.

"Beg your pardon?" asked Aquaman, who was still stuck on dimples and so he didn't quite follow yet.

Aquaman was in a pretty good mood after getting a few root beers into his system, and so, when he noticed Deadpool at the bar, he had to sidle on over and try to slide an arm of camaraderie around the other costumed fellow's shoulder.

"Vice Principal Deadpool! You know, I have never had the chance to tell you how much I admire your color scheme. Really, my friend, you do wonders with it!"

No, he'd never spoken to Deadpool before. But everyone knew the vice principal, right?

"Really?" Oh sure, this was coming from Aquaman. The Coast Guard of the super-heroing bunch. "You're too kind!"
