"Talking to yourself again, Chuckles?" John asked, taking a seat at the bar and feeling like he was maybe too old for this banter, but what the hell. Without McKay, there was no one around for his daily dose of verbal abuse.

"Well, that's not really up for debate given I'm here," John pointed out, "but I'll take an opening, what's new about today?"

"Oh, I don't have anything new to add. I was just stating well established fact," he said. "I take it you want a cheap beer to drown your sorrows in?"

"What's there to plan?" he asked as he grabbed John's beer. "Isn't that class just a lame excuse to tan and see half-naked women?"

"Well, had there been more males signed up, yes," John had to agree. It was the truth, after all. "Now it's more how to tan and appreciate that guys only throw frisbees in hopes of interesting half-naked women."

He hadn't called, so Shelley wasn't sure if she should make eye-contact with John or not. Instead, she just turned in his general direction and stared at a point a few inches above his head.

John had always failed at those female hints and if he missed Shelley's entrance, blame his infatuation with Chuck's missing scarf.

Okay, well that was obviously not working. Changing up her tactic, Shelley picked up a napkin and casually dropped it on the floor. "Oops, my napkin," she said, standing up, turning around, and bending down to pick it up. She paused right before snatching it up to see if John was looking.

Her exclamation turned his head, and the view of her rear raised his eyebrows. "Shelley, hey! Fancy seeing you around...town. Where we both live."

"Oh my god, John!" she exclaimed, still bent over, basically staring up at him from between her legs. "I didn't even notice you sitting there!"

She straightened up and looked around, as though trying to figure out how she had missed him.

"Yeah? I'm kind of amazed I missed you come in," he replied. John was generally amazed anyone would talk to him while bent over like that but he wasn't knocking it.

Normally, Shelley might feel guilty about hitting the bar on a Monday night, but seeing as how her only obligation in life was making it to work one day a week, she found it hard to care.

She sat at the bar and contemplated her drink options.

Chuck hit the booze one way or another every night, so he couldn't judge someone in a bar on a Monday. "Can I help you?"

"I think I'll start off easy tonight," she replied with a smile. "Can I get a sparkling water with lime?"

"You know, I think I can manage that," he said, giving Shelley a smile. He'd never understand why would order a non-alcoholic drink in a bar, but whatever, it was an easy drink to get. He liked that.
