Magic/Support Reserves: the Beach, Wednesday After Classes

As if to make up for the lack of meeting last week, the plans for Magic and Support reserves this week were action-packed and very complex.

They were detailed on the posters put up in the usual spot behind the dorms.

It took three whole lines.

Magic/Support Reserves End of Summer Survival Celebration

Meet at the beach. Bring sunscreen and a towel.

"Much though I'd like to," Sookie drawled, peeking at him over her sunglasses, "I don't own the beach, Peter. But even so, you're welcome to. How've you been?"

"Other than a misadventure in terror twenty-thousand leagues under the sea, pretty good," Peter said. "Definitely haven't attended any evil orgies lately, that's for sure."

"Oooh, I'm two for two on that. Do I get a prize?" Sookie wondered. More soberly, she added, "So you heard about the evil orgy thing, huh?"

Peter nodded. "Heard it from Karla at the strawberry social," Peter said. "And sadly I'm all of prizes right now. I think I left them in my other swim trunks."

"I swear, I think I've said the word 'orgy' more times than I ever meant to in my whole lifetime just in the last two weeks," Sookie mused. "And in the weirdest places. But it wasn't all that fun. Did Karla share all the gory details?"

Literally.

"I heard about the meat tree and Karla's 'I got better' sacrifice," Peter said. "And that something called a Maenad was involved. I haven't had a chance to Google that, yet."

"It's an ancient worshiper of Bacchus. Feeds on chaos and lust and stuff like that, and apparently she has mind-whammy powers that outrank mine, Emma's and Raven's," Sookie supplied helpfully. "Not my favorite trip home."

"She didn't... take over any of your minds, did she?" Peter asked, concerned.

"She couldn't," Sookie said, shaking her head. "I'm pretty much immune to most attacks like that, and so are Emma, Karla, and Raven. And Bobby and Kennedy had some shielding stuff on. We were all fine. But she got just 'bout everyone else in my hometown."

Except Sam. Which was a little weird, but she wasn't really dwelling on that.

Peter suddenly made a face.

"So you had to see most of your hometown in a... I am so, so sorry."

"Thank God my brother wasn't there," Sookie said, making a face right along with him. "It's bad enough my old pastor was."

"So are they... that town's going to need a dozen therapists," Peter said.

"I actually think they don't remember what happened," Sookie noted thoughtfully. "They were all kind of dazed when they wandered off that night. I mean, not that I stuck around -- Bobby and I had to go to Texas. But I haven't heard anything, at least. Besides, we don't really have room to talk about Bon Temps needing therapy, considering Fandom's last couple weeks."

"I wasn't judging," Peter said. "I was just... seems like it'd be a hard thing to get over. If they could remember."

"No kidding," Sookie sighed. "I mean, I probably need therapy at this point, and I didn't even...have that much happen to me. All things considered, Karla and Bobby got the worst of it all." She shook her head as though to clear it. "And this was all on top of the whole...Rapture dealie. How'd you do down there?"

"I woke up there wearing only a towel," Peter said. "And things went downhill from there. I'd have my arm in a sling if it weren't for Raven."

Sookie smiled a little. It didn't quite reach her eyes. "Those crazy folks get to you?" she asked.
