By evening, Jaina had gotten weirded out enough by the hand randomly in her apartment that she'd left. It was being helpful, so she wasn't going to kick it out, but... weird. And then when she came into the bar and saw the hand on the counter here, she said, "Should've known."

John spared her a glance after taking a nice gulp of his beer. "Yep." He had no fucking clue what she was talking about, but it sounded like the thing to say.

"I've got one of these at my place," she explained, finding a seat. "And I tended bar with one last night. I'd sort of thought it was a one day thing."

Not that it stopped her from ordering a water from the hand.

While he had not asked, he turned enough to appear like he was paying attention. "Fifty bucks says they're gone tomorrow."

"I don't have fifty bucks to risk there," she frowned, watching the hand slide her her water. "How are you doing?"

"Hanging out in a bar with a hand," John shrugged. "I've been better, I've been worse." He was walking a fine line between bored and looking for trouble most days. "What's new in your world?"

"Hanging out in a bar with a hand and you," she said, taking a drink. "It's felt like a slow week. I keep waiting for something good to happen." A timely invasion to give her something to do would be awesome.

"So now we're hanging out?" John would drink through that eyebrow raise. "I'm not looking for an excuse to shoot something besides paper targets...though there are a lot of hands around."

"Well, for a definition of hanging out as being in the same place and talking with neither of us seeming to be going anywhere right away, then I'd say yes, we're hanging out," Jaina said. She hadn't thought much about her phrasing till now. "That's just the way I think of it, anyway."

"Weird," John replied, finding he didn't have much more of a response to that sort of analysis.

"Should I not be bothering you?" she wondered. One of the good things about being broken up was that it was easier to leave him alone if he didn't want to be bothered without worrying there was an issue that needed solving.

"No, though I see you're drinking water," he noticed, finishing his not at all water. "You came here for the social interaction, huh?"

"I always do. The hand at my apartment doesn't seem that chatty," she explained. "I'm guessing you didn't?"

"Considering I stayed when it was just me, Tino, and a hand, no. Not at all." And really, that was probably a good thing. "But I'm not gonna reject your chatty nature. Because you really are." That little smirk might've given away the teasing despite his nasal tone.

"I know, that's the biggest complaint I hear about myself, that I never shut up," she said with a small lopsided grin. "And the second complaint is that I never let people reject my chatty nature."

"I've heard them whine about that." Must've been family if there was whining.

Jaina feigned shock. "They whine about me to people not me? Well now I'm outraged." She seemed so outraged, too.

"You seem outraged," John replied, totally not outraged for her. Though he was giving the hand behind the bar the eye and a tap on the counter to encourage more beer to appear.

"Somehow I'll get over it," Jaina said, distracted watching the hand. "How does it know what you're signaling, it has no eyes."

"That's why I'm tapping," John said, thinking it should have been pretty obvious. "Also, it's a bar."

Mmm, third day of AFK in a row. I'll be gone from 6pm-10pm Eastern.
