So, it looked like Alex was an employee now. Tino kind of hated it because he'd just gotten used to the meathead and now he was dealing with Mr. Instability. Alex really didn't care what Tino thought.

Alex cared about the free booze and getting paid to watch zombies play crap music. Alex cared about other things too but not right now. He had a lingering headache from last night, he hadn't been sleeping, and now he was well on his way to getting nice and drunk.

It was a typical night.

There's Alex, there's Tino, and there's booze!

Christian rather hoped the redheaded vampire bartender from the weekend would be working again, and he met his big brother with a wary nod.

"Alex," he said. "Just a beer, please. I didn't realize you worked here."

"New employee," Alex said, gesturing towards the wide selection of beer behind him. "Anything specific or gonna make it the bartender's choice?"

"A light ale," Christian said. "I'm horrible at remembering brands."

"I just got a job as well," he added, by way of conversation.

"Light ale light ale," Alex said, running his fingers over the bottles before finding something light and clear for Christian. He wasn't much for light ales but he wouldn't make fun of Christian today.

"Where at?" he asked instead. "Court jester?"

That hardly counted as an insult, coming from Alex. Christian couldn't do much but roll his eyes. "Music shop," he answered. "I sing with Jono sometimes, and he mentioned he needed people so I volunteered."

"You sing?" Alex settled the bottle in front of Christian. "So, I wasn't too far off from the jester crack. I shoulda just said you were a court entertainer."

He was a little drunk.

"I sing," Christian confirmed. "Well enough to get by, anyhow. Where does the court bit come into it?"

"I dunno. Like performing for a king or something," Alex said, shrugging. "Aren't from some place with a monarchy?"

"I'm English," Christian confirmed. "Though now you have me wondering what Queen Victoria would make of modern music. I don't think she'd like it."

"Really?" Alex asked, actually curious about that. "Why not? Too loud? I wouldn't recommend singing like AC/DC but I'm sure you could find something."

"She's all...." Christian gestured vaguely. "Prim. Proper. Or that's what I'm told of her. I can't imagine she'd appreciate music about, ah, physical love."

"There're songs about romantic love these days, aren't they?" Alex asked, leaning on the bar. "There are sappy saps out there, still."

"There is that," Christian said, and drained a bit of his beer. "Like -- Elton John. His songs are sentimental."

Christian had never been mistaken for cool.

"Elton John?" Alex repeated, smirking. "Like Rocket Man?"

Why did he know that?

"Like 'Rocket Man'!" Christian agreed brightly, happy his reference had been understood. "And 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight.'"

"That's from a movie, isn't it?" Again, Alex didn't know why he knew that. "Um, animated? If you earworm me, I'm gonna be so pissed."
