A Clearing In The Preserve, Thursday Evening

This evening, there was a bit more activity going on in the preserve than the usual scampering and frolicking of the teal deer and the alots. Tonight, there were paper lanterns strung up through the branches and along the trees, there were tables set up in the clearing, and there was music. If it lacked a banner and balloons, they were hoping the glimmer of the lantern lights in the darkness made up for it.

Ino was turning seventeen, and there was only one thing to be done about it. Zack had sent out the e-mail yesterday, and he and Karla had taken care of the food and the cakes and the decorations, and, once Zack managed to get Ino to join them, they were going to celebrate!

[Up a little early for PARTY TIME goodness! Open!]

Karla grinned. "It helps we're a matriarchy, anyway," she teased. "My people have experience listening to the right gender."

...Ignoring all of Glacia's recent history, of course.

Leda didn't believe that either gender was better than the other, but couldn't immediately think of a way to spin that into a joke.

"Elves don't really care one way or the other in that regard I don't think. Any objections to my being in charge that I've heard of all have to do with my pro-human leanings. Nothing to do with my having breasts." However small they may be.

It was one of the things many Elves liked about halfies. They could be buxom.

In all honesty, Kaeleer's gender distinctions weren't based on one sex being 'better' than the other, either. It was ever so much more complicated than that.

And yet, not, considering Queens ruled because of their connection to the land.

"I'm looking forward to you shaking them up a bit," Karla said smugly. "You'll have to send me tons of letters once you do."

"Oh absolutely. Oh Gods I wish it were possible for humans to cross the border. I'd love it if you could come to the coronation."

"Why can't we?" Karla asked.

"No one really knows, though I know what the Unseelie would say. Half Elves can get across, but for some reason it's simply not physically possible for humans to cross the border. Hell most humans can't even see the border." She was pretty certain Karla would be one of the few who could though.
