Ben was hardly a stranger to how Stark's was set up, but it was the first time he'd been in the shop unsupervised, which was why he might look like most kids would in a candy store.

...no one ever accused him of being all that normal.

He was behind the counter bright and early that morning, fiddling around with a mouse droid and eager to earn his paycheck so he could get rid of that damn arm tattoo help the community with their technology woes.

"Wiring I can help you with," Ben said with smile, walking over to a wall and pulling some down. "I used this when I was making mine."

It'd mean she had to disassemble the entire casing and rewire it, but Tahiri had heard Luke's lecture about Tenel Ka's first lightsaber enough times to not mind the extra caution. "And I won't even try and take advantage of you for a discount," she told him. "See how nice I am?"

"Apparently, we have a very strict no embezzling policy, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't cut you a break," he said.

"I wouldn't ask you to," Tahiri retorted playfully. "Especially not to build my lightsaber."

He leaned in to steal a kiss. "Don't want to borrow trouble?"

"Not more than already tends to follow me around," Tahiri replied, sneaking a quick hug in while she kissed him. "In fact, I've been trying to figure out if I can pawn some of that off on other people."

"Any takers yet?" Ben asked with a quick grin.

"Can you believe not?" Tahiri asked. "Honestly, you'd think someone would be interested."

"How are you phrasing it?" Ben said. "Lead with the exciting, heart-pounding stuff and leave out the threats of imminent death."

"Well, it's awfully hard to get someone to take something that's basically intangible," Tahiri pointed out, "though I may have to factor your suggestions into my next sales pitch."

Ben laughed. "Have you found EBay?" he asked. "I got bored late one night, and people try to sell everything."

"But how would I ship it to them?" Tahiri pointed out, kicking her heels lightly against the counter. "I don't even know where I'd start chasing it down, for one."

"I don't know," Ben said. "But people sell magic spells with the caveat of 'it'll totally work. Trust me!'"

"But isn't there at least something written down for that?" Tahiri mused. "I don't know. I'm not sure eBay is the appropriate market for that sort of thing. Maybe I should ask Lando . . ."

Ben had a sudden, terrible vision of Lando let loose on eBay and shuddered. "He'd be selling slightly used planets in a neighborhood due for an upswing in three hours," he declared, "and then the Hutts would have nowhere to live."

Tahiri's eyes widened, and she looked like she was torn between shuddering and laughing; she opted for laughing with a slightly hysterical tinge to the sound.

"Oh, Force, he would. That settles it, I'm never mentioning eBay to him ever, next time I go home."

"Give him a week and we'd be returning to live on planet Lando," Ben said with a slightly strained grin. "He'd detail how you too could be this successful in his next book."

"Would it involve effective use of a cape?" Tahiri asked, as if there was any answer to the question other than yes.

Ben scoffed at her. "Are you new? Of course it would!"

[weetuskenraider]

"I am not!" Tahiri exclaimed, laughing and reaching out to poke at him. "It was a rhetorical question and you know it perfectly well, Ben Skywalker."

"Maybe," Ben drawled. "I like to get you flustered."

"Oh, really?" Tahiri asked, raising both eyebrows. "Boy, you really do know how to get a girl interested, don't you?"

By bringing Lando Calrissian into it. Best plan ever.

You should hear his Lando impression! Gets them every time!

"I'm quite the ladykiller," he drawled in, yes, his best Lando impression. "Poor the wine and you can tell me more things you like about me."

Tahiri had to stare at him for several moments. Just stare.

"You know," she finally said in a voice strained from the urge to giggle, "it's a good thing you're at work right now anyway, because somehow any ideas I had about making out with you just disappeared."

Ben tried to hold a straight face and failed rather spectacularly. "Sorry," he said between giggles. "It's always worked before."
