The Perk- Wednesday evening

Apparently when Jaina wasn't at Caritas, she was at the Perk. Maybe she had a thing for beverages. She'd just wanted to get out for a while, and even left her datapad at home (her phone and comlink were safely on her person, no one check her head for bumps) to just take some time and hang out for a while. Maybe even do something kind of like relaxing.

This would be easier if the first cup of hot chocolate she'd gotten hadn't gotten spilled when the barista bumped into her table, earning her a free replacement cup. Then the second cup had just been overfilled and spilled on the floor when she went to walk back to her table.

At that point Jaina had decided she wasn't meant for hot chocolate today, and was now sitting at the window table with a coffee. An iced coffee. When there was that much spilling going on today, you didn't want to risk getting scalded a third time.

[Idk, it's been a weird week. Open!]

There was nothing better on a rainy night than a cup of overpriced, over brewed coffee. And tonight it seemed like John had picked a good time to go collect his from the Perk. He slid into the seat across from Jaina and frowned at her iced beverage.

"It's finally not hot out and that's what you drink?"

Greetings were so overrated. "Like you can't just levitate the liquid before it touches you," John scoffed. His jealousy over her having powers would never die.

John raised an eyebrow. "There's good and bad now? I thought you were the sword. Doesn't that come with some automatic level up?"

"Well, if I remember right, the hot chocolate here is a little on the evil side," John pointed out in her defense. He was such a helpful sort of guy. Except for when he wasn't.

While he had to admit she made an interesting point, John didn't recall the specifics of their discussion from so long ago. "Well, that leads us to the obvious question - have you tried all hot chocolate everywhere?"

"When you say here, do you mean the Perk here or Earth here?" It was an important distinction.

"Hey, you might have hit up J,GOB or something. I don't know." John thought he had a point now and was rather proud of this.

John raised his hands to physically show her she was on her own there. "Yeah, I don't think I can help you out with that one. So if you gave up on heat, you looking for the staying awakeness that comes with coffee?"

"Today's Wednesday?" John looked a little concerned. "I think I missed Tuesday altogether."

"That would be pretty amazing," John said, taking a sip of his coffee and considering the implications there. "I don't think my class would show. I'm betting you have all the geeks who actually wanna fly. I have the kids who didn't wanna take a real class. 'Course, I didn't wanna teach one."

"What? Food class? Sounded easy enough and I found a copy of a syllabus in my old desk for some other guy's version of the class."

The self-satisfied smile on his face was probably very familiar to Jaina. "I try to work smarter, not harder. One of those things I honed working with my team."

"Well..." John had to think about how he could answer this question knowing there was a 33% chance of McKay showing up for the weekend. "Let's go with knowing the strengths of my teammates and working that way."
