Caritas: Friday Night

Jessica woke up and headed to Caritas as soon as it was dark. She knew there was something going on up at the school with people visiting, but nobody would be coming to see her. After all, her parents and her deadbeat daddy vamp had no clue she was in Fandom, right?

"Depends," Jessica said. "Do you tip?"

"Don't wear pink?" Crystal suggested.

Jessica rolled her eyes. "Well, duh," she said. "I'm a redhead. I meant money."

"Oh, money," Crystal said. She didn't understand how you were supposed to give advice with money, but she could totally pretend that she did. "Sure! And, I mean, I just thought--I mean, I didn't know anything else about you to tip on, right? My sister's a redhead, too. But you probably don't know her. She's not 'cool' enough to be in a bar." Had she used that word right?

"Whose your sister?" Jessica asked. "I met one redheaded lady already but I don't know many of the students if she goes to that big school up there. So what do you wanna drink?"

"Her name's Medusa? She's really...uptight." And Crystal had no idea what she did with her free time now that she wasn't spending it outside of Blackagar's isolation chamber. "She has amazing hair. Not that yours isn't nice!" It was just that Medusa had better hair than everyone, and even Crystal had to admit it. "I don't know. What's good?"

Jessica shook her head. "Sorry, I don't know her," she said. "Hmm, you like sweet drinks? I could try to make ya a mudslide."

"Does that have mud in it?" Crystal asked warily. Maybe everyone was right about humans being too weird...

Jessica shook her head. "No, but it's got Kahlua and chocolate."

Crystal didn't know what those were, either, but they weren't dirt, so, "Oh, that sounds okay. Sure, I'll have one of those."

"Gimme a minute, this is a little complicated," Jessica said. She dug out the blender and added the Kahlua, vodka, Irish cream, and ice, blended it all together, then poured it in a glass and garnished it with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. "There ya go," she said, sliding the glass over to Crystal. No, she wasn't watching her carefully for her reaction, since this was her first time making a mudslide.

Don't worry, Jessica. It was Crystal's first time trying a mudslide, so she wouldn't know if it was right or wrong anyway. She took a tentative sip and said, "Oh, that's good!"

Jessica beamed. "Glad you like it," she said. Another drink she had mastered!
