Parents Weekend Mixer - Fandom Community Center, Saturday Evening

As the sun started to go down, the party was only just getting started. The Fandom Community Center was set up and well-lit to receive this weekend's guests. The bar was open and there were nibblies and appetizers on offer all evening. Music was playing most of the night, but not loud enough to hamper conversation. Welcome to the Parents Weekend Mixer, for anyone who wanted to stop in and share in some good company and good cheer!

Scott was pretty much ready to meet anyone who had never met some version of him. He knew he was pretty much hoping for a miracle at this point since everyone in the town seemed to be either a relative or someone his relatives were warning him to stay away from, but it would be against his nature to abandon all hope.

Since the opposite of abandoning all hope was drinking punch, he had a cup of that.

Sorry Scott. At this point in time, Bobby's met a couple of you. Whiiiiich would be why he was sidling up to Scott and reaching out to give him a friendly clap on the back (that was strong enough to send that punch flying, if it connected). "Scooter! Long time no see!" It wasn't his Scott, that much he knew from a) radio and b) a lack of emo stubble. But that wasn't gonna stop him from ~~pestering him~~ saying hi.

Scott looked at his newly empty cup, then the punch on the floor, and then over to Bobby. "I kind of figured you were going to be the Bobby Emma mentioned."

"Wait, did you call me Scooter?"

Bobby rolled his eyes. "Of course she'd ruin my fun," he grumbled. "And... yeah?" It annoyed the crap out of the Scott he knew, hence why he used it right now. It was always good to test and see what constants there were across universes.

"She was trying to figure out who I was visiting when she mentioned you," Scott said, shaking his had at the Scooter thing. "I think she was mostly trying to make sure Jean wasn't around, too. They didn't like each other very much, did they?" And apparently it crossed generational lines, too...

Annnnd that confirmed that Scott's Jean hadn't come with him. Bobby wasn't really sure whether he was relieved or disappointed. "Bit of an understatement, there," he replied. "Emma's got a way of- getting under your skin." Sometimes literally. And okay, Jean had probably been just as much at fault as Emma had been for that rivalry, but Bobby was biased.

"She seemed okay to me," Scott said. And she was pretty attractive. "A little rough around the edges, maybe."

"Yeah, well, that's cause you've known her for like five minutes." And didn't have what was possibly a remnant of her consciousness occasionally offer snide commentary on your life.

"Maybe four," Scott admitted. "Are there big issues with her? Rachel seemed pretty dead set against me talking to her."

"You could say that," Bobby agreed. "The one in my reality- which is closer to Rachel's than yours is, I think- is definitely not a friend to anyone at Xavier's. And the one here... I'm not saying she'll turn out like that Emma, in fact I kind of hope she doesn't, but I've got my own reasons for not trusting her," he said a little bitterly.

"... Wait, do you know Rachel?" Scott asked, jumping back to the more selfish point. But can you blame him?

"Iiiii know of her? A little?" Bobby admitted. "Didn't actually meet any version of her in person 'til yesterday though."

"You don't happen to a Nate Summers, do you?" Scott asked. "I heard he's my son."

"Nate?" Bobby nodded. "Yeah. And yeah. I was wondering if anyone had dropped that particular bombshell on you yet. He's the mayor."

"Rachel mentioned him," Scott said. "At least my kids grow up to be successful?"

"He's got a nice little family going too," Bobby informed Scott with his very best totally innocent expression.

"If you tell me I'm a grandfather before I'm old enough to vote, my Bobby is going to be running extra laps for a week," Scott threatened.

"Jan just turned three," Bobby shared with a smirk. Like he cared about the fate of some alternate universe Bobby. "She's totally adorable."

"You're cruel, Bobby Drake," Scott said, shaking his head.

Well, this looked like a fine, upstanding gentleman. And popular, too! Valanice knew it was unlikely that anything more would come out of this mixer than any of the many balls held in Daventry's Court, but she just couldn't resist the temptation.

"Rosella, come along!"

And, with that, thinking her daughter was obediently in tow and that she hadn't just turned around and went far in the other direction, Valanice approached the boy and said, "Pardon me, sir, but have you had the honor of meeting my daughter, Rosella?"

Who should have been right there....

"Now, where has she gone to now? Oh, my..."

"No, ma'am, I haven't," Scott said. It sounded like this woman didn't have any idea who he was. That was the main reason for the smile he had right now.

"Oh, well, she was just here a minute ago," Valanice said, hand to her cheek in dismay. "I have no idea where she may have disappeared to; she must just be shy..."

"It's okay," Scott said. "It's a big party. She's probably in the crowd somewhere."

"Yes, but how very odd!" Valanice remarked, still shocked even after years of Rosella doing this to her. "Well, I must say, if you do see her, you must say hello, I'm sure she'd just be delighted. She's a very lovely young lady with blonde hair and a white dress, and I am just sure you'll hit it off wonderfully."

"I'll keep my eyes open, ma'am," Scott promised. If Rosella was disappearing on her, he was pretty sure she wouldn't be open to meeting a boy her mother recommended.

On the other hand, he was intrigued. And kind of tall, so he would able to scan the crowd relatively easily.
