The Gig, Sunday

Firekeeper had spent most of Friday in the preserve, hoping whatever doorway linked her world and this one would open once again. As the sun set, it had become apparent that that wasn't going to happen this year, but Firekeeper had figured that as long as they were out there they might as well spend Saturday hunting. It wasn't that she had been sulking. At all. Really.

Sunday rolled around, though, and her responsibilities at the Gig took precedence over any feelings of disappointment she might have at a lack of visitors.

So, minus part of the morning where she and Blind Seer would venture over to the brunch for a while, the two wolves could be found with the horses today.

Sunday meant that Jake knew exactly where to find Firekeeper. The lack of shoes or shirt suggested that he'd spent the night in the preserve. The fact that the two boys with him were equally dressed suggested that they'd been there too. Wasn't she lucky getting the full shirtlessness of the pack? That had to make up for the lack of visitors, right?

They'd be heading to the brunch as well, but she got a visit first.

"Firekeeper!" he called, making his way over.

"Whoa, she does look like vampire girl," Embry commented.

If she were anyone else but Firekeeper, she might appreciate the shirtlessness. As it was, her own opinion of clothing was that humans' insistence on wearing it when it was not required to keep warm was something to be amusingly tolerated.

"I," Firekeeper informed this unfamiliar person haughtily, "am no one but myself." She sniffed at the air cautiously, and then exchanged a glance with Blind Seer to confirm her thoughts.

"Jacob," she greeted with a smile. "You bring packmates, I see."

"I say," Embry agreed instantly, grinning broadly at her. "You don't smell like leech or anything."

Jake cuffed him over the head and rolled his eyes. "I do. The idiot's Embry and this is Quil," he motioned to the other boy. "I figured I should introduce them to the rest of the pack here."

"Most call me Blysse," Firekeeper informed Quil and Embry. "But my wolf-name is Firekeeper. And he," she gestured to the large blue-eyed wolf by her side, "is Blind Seer."

"So Firekeeper then," Embry decided. "Unless you like Wolf Girl better."

Quil was squatting down, holding out a hand to Blind Seer. "Hey, brother," he echoed how he knew Jake had called the wolf. "We heard a lot about you."

Firekeeper snorted in amusement and slanted Jacob a look that clearly said are they always like this?

Blind Seer gave Quil's hand a sniff, and then twitched his tail and gave a nod in greeting.

"Hey say we not hear nearly as much about you," Firekeeper shared.

Jake was grinning and shrugged a shoulder as if to say there wasn't much he could do about it.

"That's probably because we can get into his head and know pretty much everything so he doesn't need to actually say it, we'll just know," Embry smirked.

"And because he's jealous that he's not as awesome as we are," Quil decided, reaching to scratch Blind Seer between the ears.

They certainly had the arrogance of wolves, something which Firekeeper could find no fault in.

"I like him well enough anyway," Firekeeper replied with a shrug and an indulgent smile.

Embry laughed loudly at that and punched Jake's arm. "Ouch. She likes you well enough," he snickered. "That's kind of like saying you don't stink too badly if you stand fifteen feet away, right?"

Yeah, it should come as no surprise that the next instant, him and Jake were wrestling. "That's more than any girl will ever like you."

Blind Seer barked, clearly egging the boys on as Firekeeper continued to snicker. "You enjoy your visit?" she asked Quil.

"Join in any time you want," Jake told Blind Seer just as he managed another headlock on Embry. He was getting that a lot this weekend.

Quil rolled his eyes at the other two. "Yeah, it's been cool seeing this place for real. Jake likes it here and with all the free food, I can't blame him."

"Boys and food," Firekeeper rolled her eyes. "Of course you would find this most important."

"Hey, don't knock the food," Jake objected, finally letting Embry go.

"That and we were curious to see the other wolves here," Quil commented.

"Especially girl wolves who aren't constantly a pain in the ass," Embry agreed.

"If I am not this constantly, then perhaps I should be working harder," Firekeeper smirked, reaching over to give Jacob a punch in the shoulder.

"It wouldn't be the same," Jake assured her, laughing at her. "You can be a pain and it's not that bad."

Embry nodded. "Leah's just turning everything about her and how broken up she is that Sam dumped her. I liked it better when there weren't any girls in the pack. No offense," he added quickly to Firekeeper.

Firekeeper frowned curiously at that. "With no females, how do you mate?" she had to ask.

"Well, it usually requires two people and then they get naked," Embry started, getting punched in the shoulder by Jake.

"Just other girls. Anyone really," he said. "None of the stories ever said that it could happen to girls too, so everyone was caught unaware when Leah turned."

He wasn't going to bring up imprinting, not with Quil standing right there.

That didn't really make much sense to Firekeeper, but after two years in Fandom, she was used to learning things that didn't make sense. "That seem very strange," she commented instead. "Every wolf pack I know has always had both." Mostly females, in fact, as too many males meant too many contests for leadership.

"We're werewolves," Jake pointed out. "There's not a lot about us that isn't strange."

"Maybe it's enough that one person in the relationship has a bad temper, it'd just be asking for trouble with two werewolves trying to get it on," Embry mused, shrugging.
