The Boards, Wednesday

Genesis had spent the last few days brooding, as he tended to do when left alone, and sulking about missing Angeal. (Not that he'd admit it out-loud, but he would wager half his paycheck that Angeal knew exactly what he was doing.)

Today, however, he had something else to do.

And that something else? Rehearsal.

Drinks were set out--coffee, tea, various juices and, of course, bottled water. Food was set out--muffins, crackers and various things to put on said crackers, croissants, fruit and vegetables.

And Genesis was pacing on the stage. He'd get off as soon as people needed it.

[Wait for the OCD is up, up and away!]

Warren wasn't in either of the scenes that they were going over today, but that wasn't going to stop him from sitting back with his script in hand, wings splayed out at slightly awkward angles as he went over his lines. He was going to be stretching out a lot, this week, to make up for a weekend spent hiding them.

"You? Crazy? Just because you want to kill someone for looking good...?"

He was actually sort of starting to get into this role.

Not being a part of the scenes scheduled for rehearsal today, Sara was content to partake of a croissant and an apple (though, she thought wistfully, the fruit couldn't hold a candle to that borne by the family birthday trees back in the King orchard) and nibble at the aforementioned food while going over her script.

She'd have to go to the library or ask someone about a few of the more unusual turns of phrase, but by and large she was enjoying herself immensely with her lines.

"Let's divide this all evenly," she read from the script in a gleefully imperious tone, looking far more smug than she ever did in her everyday doings. "One for you and one for me. And one for you and one for me . . ."

Karla was steadying herself off-stage. After the debacle that was last week, she was determined to prove to Genesis that he hadn't cast some squeamish idiot who was going to make a giant fuss about everything. She wasn't looking to impress him yet--if he could even be impressed and Karla hadn't seen any evidence of that--but show that she was at least moderately competent.

Jack wasn't in the scenes today, and if you thought he would be studying his lines, you are sadly mistaken, my friend.

He was over in the corner, trying to take a nap.

Robin wasn't in the scene today, but he was thinking of trying to make a bird costume and practicing some bird calls. He could totally be the bird in Scene 2.

Rinoa was grabbing snacks and nervously flipping through her script. Not going to mess up! Seriously! She hoped?

Ahhh, looks like it was just nomming and cheering on her friends for Ariel today. It was kind of nice, to walk into a rehearsal and not have a crab waving a baton at you and going on about how important it was for you to be perfect and everything.

Christian wasn't pacing as he waited for his turn to take the stage; he was practicing waking very gracefully.

It was just easy to mistake for pacing.

If nothing else, Karla didn't lack at all for inspiration for the role of Queen. Some of the lines made her think of Hobart's mistress, back home in Glacia. She had that same blend of arrogance and insecurity. Now if only she could perfect that same slight lip-curl the girl had worn...

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all?" Hmmm. To go with imperious right there? Or coy?

Rinoa couldn't decide if she should be frustrated -- that was a lot of work for one girl to be doing, all because her father had bad taste in women -- or angry, or just huffy and princess-y. Considering that the girl thought it was "unfeminine" to hate people, maybe she went with that last one, and a touch of prissiness. Snow White was so above scrubbing the floors.

She trudged onto the stage, less downtrodden, and more bored. "Scrub, scrub, scrub, that's all I ever do!" She dropped to her knees and began listlessly scrubbing at the ground. She frowned, making her voice a mimic of a much shriller one. "'Scrub this, Snow White.' 'Wash that, Snow White.' 'Have this dry-cleaned by five o'clock so I can go to the neighbor's ball, Snow White.'"

She tossed the rag into the bucket in a sulky fit of temper. "I hate doing all this cleaning! And at minimum wage, no less!"

Claudia was in the catwalks. Exploring and taking notes. And probably having far too much fun with it all.

Yeah, Kūkaku was there, pipe hanging out of her mouth and mostly looking things over, visualizing how her plans have been put together so far in her head.
