Christian ignored the snow as he got to work. He had a Christmas display to set up!

He sang softly as he arranged evergreen branches and lights about the shop. He hadn't done any shopping yet, but he was determined to make it a lovely holiday season.

Sooo hitting the bookstore was all well and good but, really, she supposed that as long as she didn't go on a day when Jono was working then it wasn't quite so weird--he was already doing a lot for her, so the rest she thought was better off doing on her own and...

"I like the lights," she said brightly, shaking sugar out of her coat as the door shut behind her. "Hi!"

"I do too," Christian answered with a grin. "Hello to you too, Ino."

She grinned at him.

"You do all the decoratin'?" Ino checked, because more pleasantries were clearly less important than decorations! "I ain't done any of that where I work, yet. Always seems weird in one place and the other--the flowers do it well enough."

"I did all of this," Christian said, gesturing at what he'd put up. "Do you think Jono will like it? And you should decorate both of your workplaces. There can never be too much!"

"Maybe I'll do it next week," she mused, considering it for a moment. "Though then I've got to decide what colours--though that's more important with Miss Vida than it is with Cable-san. I don't think Cable-san would care if I did it all in purple or something."

As long as it deterred customers, it'd probably be okay with him!

"And I don't think I know either of them, at least not enough to know their tastes," Christian shrugged, and pulled himself onto the counter to have a seat. "You could do it all in white. Who would object to white?"

"Me," she said impishly, leaning against the counter. "I like colour and white would get dull after a month of it inside and out, you know?"

"Then you definitely shouldn't go for all white," Christian decided. "Forget I said that."

He added, as if suddenly remembering he was at work, "Oh -- I always forget to ask people this, but is there anything I could help you find?"

"Already forgotten," she said lightly, and aww being all professional! "Yes, actually--I'm looking for a few books on readin' music and such-like?"

Because, really, eventually she had to give the books back to the library. ... Eventually.

"You know, I've never spent a lot of time in the books section," Christian said thoughtfully. Jono would kill him, no doubt.

... okay. Maybe Jono wouldn't.

"But there's a shelf over here. We can look at them together!"

"After you," Ino replied easily, "after all, you've got to at least pretend you're in charge, no? Helping the helpless damsel?"

In other news, Ino was ridiculous. News at ten.

"But ladies first," Christian protested gibly, as he lead the way back to the shelves. "Why the interest in reading music? Is it for the band?"

She followed, ponytail bouncing as she walked.

"Kinda?" Because that answered everything! Or nothing. "I'm kinda lookin' at maybe making it a bit more than a hobby," Ino explained, "but that means I need to--be able to do more than just sing, you know?"

"I didn't know," Christian admitted. "Isn't a lovely voice and stage presence enough? What else would you have to be able to do?"

"Jono said," because on this, she was taking Jono's word as law, "that at the very least I need to know how to read music--and I've been working on that, but I can't keep the library books forever--and maybe look into playing an instrument as well but I haven't even started on that aspect."

Maybe if she looked cute enough no one would expect her to play anything? Maybe?

"Ah." Jono would know more than Christian did, anyhow. "Bass is easy. I've picked it up in a matter of months."

Which had only been helped a bit by Christian being from a musical world. Shhhh.

"Is it?" She chewed on her lower lip while picking up a book at random. "I never really thought 'bout playing anything before, honestly. Singing sure, but everything else was more... what other people do."

"You should try it!" Christian answered. "The keyboards, maybe. All the notes are laid out in front of you, so it's easier."

"Maybe," she mused, with a bit of a grin. "Though even just learnin' the basics would probably take a while and not really be a point of--knowledge."
