Our Lady of Fandom [Tuesday afternoon]
While the snow might have been coming down in ridiculous (to Sookie) amounts, it hadn't been that hard for her to get to the church to set up for the memorial. Granted, not everyone had the benefit of an ice-manipulating boyfriend, but she was pretty sure people would come, still, anyway.
The setup was simple, classy. A few candles (the lack of power helped), and Sookie placed a picture of Raven at the front, on a table. She figured that as people filed in, they could say goodbye, or whatever they needed to. And if people wanted to speak to the whole group, they could -- there was space for that, after all. But as for her, Sookie was going to stay in her warm black coat, with her warm black gloves, and feel cold all over in spite of it.
[omg post is totes NFB, radio kids, but memorial is open to all who know about it!]

Arrive
Re: Arrive
She was dressed in her best Jedi robes, new lightsaber clipped to her belt; her expression was stoic -- she'd lost enough friends in her seventeen years and that in its own way was sad -- but, she hoped, no less compassionate for that restraint.

She still looked absolutely wrecked, less confident and sure of herself than she usually was, but she was trying her hardest. If for no other reason than to be here for her friends.
Her hardest didn't do much to disguise how rough the whole thing had been on her, though Kennedy didn't really care how much of that showed.

Of course she'd come prepared with something to say; that was why she was standing near one wall, lips moving silently as she went over the words. She didn't really care about theatrics or exceptionally ornate language, for once; she just wanted this to be heartfelt . . . and to not stumble over the words.
Re: Arrive
The rest of him mostly looked a little bedraggled, and a lot saddened. He hadn't known Raven that well, but he'd known her well enough to knock her off the list of deaths that would have just rendered him numb, and he owed it to her to show up.

Robin, on the other hand . . . well, there was a history with Robin and the Titans, wasn't there? Even if Superboy refused to acknowledge her as Robin yet, there was . . . there was tradition! So there was a figure
lurkinghiding out quietly in a dark corner of the choir loft, just watching for now; this was where having a black cape came in handy. The bright red, green, and yellow of her costume would be awfully over-festive for the situation.Re: Arrive

Re: Arrive
She wore the heart chakra pendant Raven had given her for Christmas over her dark sweater. It made her feel a bit like Raven was still out there, somewhere, if only as a memory.

He stood at the back of the church, wearing his heavy overcoat over his uniform, and paid his respects.

Instead, he stayed near the back, and slipped out a little while later.
Some of the eulogies were making him think-- though not about anything that had anything to do with Raven, specifically.

And not wonder at all when these fools became his people.
Re: Arrive
Raven, though, that hurt. Not in that deep, life changing way that her 24-hour beau's death had on Hayley, but a hurt that stung.
Ever since coming to the school, Hayley could count on one hand the people who'd always treated her nicely. The people that, if she had to, she could turn to. That wouldn't treat her as damaged, as crazy, as that bad girl.
Raven was one of those people.
She didn't really have any funeral appropriate attire, but she was keeping bundled up in her red coat and black scarf anyway. She was too cold to take it off, even out of respect. Not that she'd even think that it'd be more respectful to take off her coat.
She sat down in the back, quietly thinking to herself. Loss was always hard to process for her. And she'd just lost something dear to her.

Re: Arrive
No, she'd just sit in the back quietly, with her own sadness and regret.

Say Goodbye
Re: Say Goodbye
But that was a stupid thought, and he chastisised himself for it. He'd buried Carolus too, after all.
Second of all, though, he felt silly and more awkward than usual doing this in English. He sighed, and licked his lips, and started in with his native tongue instead. "Maar hij gaf altijd bescherming aan lijdende kinderen, en hoop aan ieder die dat nodig had. Ik hoop dat hij ook voor jou klaarstaat...*"
He talked a little more, but not much. He didn't need to say much. Maybe some of it had been for the children, too, and not just the one they'd most recently lost.
[[ 'but he always gave protection to suffering children, and hope to all who needed it. I hope he'll be there for you too'. /nerd ]]

Eulogies
Re: Eulogies
Instead, she allowed herself to cry. Not a sob, not a wail, but a simple trickle of tears as she said her few kind words for her friend.
"Raven was one of those people that accepted you, no matter who you were," Hayley said. "No matter what you may have done in the past, she'd want to help you if you needed it. She was always there, sometimes before ya even knew that you needed help, even."
She smiled, thinking of her friend not in a sense of what was lost, but in what her friend had done. The great effect that Raven had had on a poor, broken girl.
"Without Raven, I know I wouldn't have made it. She helped me break my Nics habit, even if she never knew it. She helped me when I couldn't understand what I was feelin'. She was one of the best friends anyone could ever have, and... and I'm sorry that nobody will ever get to have her as a friend, anymore. That's... that's really, really sad."
She sat down, having said what she needed to say.

OOC [01/17/11]
Anyway -- I'm at work until 4:30 or so, kids, but I'm leaving comments on because I get bored at work and apparently sobbing incoherently will be the better option. IDK.
Again -- this whole memorial is NFB, to keep this plot from affecting characters who wouldn't necessarily want or need to know about another character's death! (Even if she will get better, omg.)
