The Junkyard, Wednesday afternoon

Sure, it was a little chilly out for hanging out outside. But there was science to do and Tony got a warm jacket, so it wasn't even on the radar. It was the kind of science that occasionally involved explosions and other things that bespoke CGI.

But enough about horrible animation!

Tony fiddled with the gauntlet as he waited for Ben to arrive. There was no such thing as over-tweaking his designs, damn it.

((For that Jedi, but open like a junkyard!))

"Staying away from my ship?" Be asked, smiling as he walked closer.

"I didn't bring enough tools to take it apart," Tony replied, waving one over at him with a gauntlet covered hand. "You got lucky."

He chuckled. "Or maybe you got distracted by something new and shiny," he teased, moving in to inspect the gauntlet. "This is pretty astral."

"Maybe." Shhh. Don't judge his love of pretty, pretty tech, Ben. He held up the other gauntlet for Ben if he wanted to examine it. "They're part of a larger idea--" HA. "--but this is where the shield array is located."

Ben shot an annoyed look at the cupids circling overhead. "Good day to work on a shield," he said.

It seemed they were only attracted to areas with more than one person. For the most part, at least.

"There's a repulsor in the gauntlet if they get too close too," Tony added cheerfully.

Ben burst out laughing. "That would teach them," he said. "Okay, let me see this shielding of yours. We don't do a lot in the way of personal shielding, generally."

"Power source issue?" Tony guessed, slipping his other hand into the second gauntlet and letting it click into place automatically.

"Plus any decent Jedi isn't going to get shot," Ben scoffed.

Tony just snorted at that. "Well, this is for the non-Jedi set," he replied, taking a few steps back before activating the shield. Oh so conveniently colored blue so people could see it, it was a perfect circle of crackling energy around him, causing one errant arrow to bounce off into what was once a car as one of the cupids jumped the gun.

"Nice," Ben said, tilting his head to get a closer look at it. "How big a projectile will it repel?"

Tony hesitated for a moment, hands still held up to keep the shield in place for inspection. "A single object, I'm not sure. It was made to act as a buffer for the initial damage to the subject."

His only practical test wasn't exactly the best time ever had.

"Gunshot?" Ben asked. "Or more like missiles, rocks, shorter mountains?"

"Anything that could happen, really. The suit is designed for rescue and exploration of areas people could get hurt in."

Ben looked interested. "So it's like a self-contained space ship?"

"The version I have so far isn't meant to breach the atmosphere..." And now someone had ideas. "But it shouldn't be too hard to alter it."

"That part I can help with," Ben said with a grin. "I've taken apart enough of our EV suits."

"Does this mean I get to take one apart too?" Tony asked, shutting it down before the power cut out.

"Sure," Ben said. "I've got lots of them in the shuttle. Want one now?"

"Sure!"

Just use those mad Jedi skills to dodge those Cupids on your way, Ben. Mad skills.

Ben came back a few minutes later with a fistful of arrows, an enviro-suit and a cranky look on his face.

"This week is becoming tiresome."

"At least it's not rose petals again," Tony replied, frowning at the suit. "I was hoping to make one a little less bulky."

"It can be streamlined a bit," Ben assured him. "This one is for everyone's use, so it has to be idiot-proof." His hand snapped out without his head even moving, snatching an arrow from the air.

"Stop that," he scolded.

"I'm trusting you to keep with arrow free while I look at this," Tony replied, tugging one gauntlet off to get his grubby mitts all over that enviro-suit.

"If I can't handle a few little flying things, my grandfather will kick my ass," Ben commented. "Take your time."
