Valentine's Day Dance | Town Hall | Friday Evening [8pm on]

Valentine’s dances were traditionally non-traditional on Fandom and this one was no exception—if, perhaps, rather more romantic than some years had been.

Across the ceiling and thick enough to hide the ceiling itself, streamers had been draped in dark blue to represent the night sky, and from that hung lanterns. They were rather large for ‘stars’ but the room was big enough to allow for that. Flowers everywhere—but not the traditional roses, rather there were water lilies adorning each table in elegant dishes that were filled with just enough water to allow the lilies to float. Bamboo and acacia were set by the walls, giving the illusion of being out in the open, and hibiscus and jasmine scented the air.

A fountain was running, letting the sound of water flow as an undercurrent to the decorations, and the heat was turned up. It wasn’t quite the same as a real tropical paradise, but the Student Council had tried.

The ability to teleport was a marvelous thing when one was doing shopping for a last-minute dress. Raven also had a necessary shawl to protect her from the cold as she waited outside the town hall for Jono, beaming happily at anyone who might pass.

Ender was there in his soon-to-be-usual unmarked dress uniform. He was not planning to spend a lot of time here - he had plenty of work to do, and he assumed that his roommate would be elsewhere tonight, which meant he could spend some time sorting a few more things out with Jane.

But right now here was here, with his usual small, polite party smile on his face.

In love with anyone or anything else -- other than the theater and her brother -- not so much. But her dress was good, Bali was a great theme, and what could she possibly have to complain about?

Quinn couldn't stop herself from twirling just a little, just to see the skirt of her dress (http://www.unique-vintage.com/chiffon-empire-waisted-short-beaded-prom-dress-size-p-9318.html) spin. The slight physical motion was also excellent at keeping her from getting all nervous about the serious-ish-date-with-Puck aspect.

She eyed the decorations approvingly as she watched to see what everyone else was wearing.

After a lot of internal debate, Bod had chosen to come to the dance since he figured seeing his friends would be fun. He wore a simple dark suit that set off his paleness of his skin and managed not to look rumpled or haphazard despite his late decision.

It was, of course, completely shocking (in a way that wasn't at all) that Tara was at the dance with Kennedy. She smoothed her dress again and looked through the crowd, feeling far more confident than she normally did at these things.

For these dances, Alex was happy enough to put on a suit and be uncomfortable for a few hours. He knew he looked damn good so that helped. He arrived, giving the decorations a cursory look and almost missing the radical weirdness of some dances past.

Emma looked good in her dress, and she knew it. She eagerly took in the decor, pleased to find it wasn't monsters or skeletons or something equally wacky.

Despite himself, Alexander was rather getting to enjoy wearing his finer attire so often during his time here, and he resolved to appreciate the event for its beauty and fun and not to let the underlying meaning of the holiday start to put him in a maudlin, wistful mood.

Far too excited about the dance itself and having the perfect dress (http://www.edressme.com/vvsop001-psd.html#), Ariel was her usual bouncing self as she took in the gorgeous decorations and all of her beautiful classmates, too, because wow! Anyone who wasn't having a good time tonight definitely deserved a nice swift kick it the pants, that was for sure!

Kate's dress was a sleek little black number, her hair was up, her lips were red, and her heels a deep purple that matched the polish on her nails. Everything was immaculate, and the way she carried herself exuded confidence.

She was a magnificent fake. There was no way around it, not with the tiny little breakdown she'd had earlier over something as stupid as flowers. It didn't matter though, she was determined to enjoy herself, as evidenced by the slight smirk on her face as she surveyed the room upon arrival.

Sookie would have liked her dress (http://www.windsorstore.com/Shop/Dresses/Evening-Dresses/Short-Evening-Dresses/Pale-Pink-Pleated-Chiffon-Dresses/p/114873) better if she'd had a better tan, it was true. But she'd gone for a fairly casual look, and stuck one of the pink roses from Emma (they went better with the dress than Bobby's red, which she'd just arranged in a vase after a slight swoony moment, shh) in her hair.

But she was happy, and her spirits were higher than they'd been all week. As far as distractions went, this kind of thing was right up in the top five.

Ramona, with freshly-fucshia hair, was pretty pleased with her dress (http://www.windsorstore.com/Shop/Dresses/Evening-Dresses/Short-Evening-Dresses/Betsy-Plum-Prom-Dresses/p/106711). Sure, it was simple, but it went with her hair, it was poofy and cute, and it twirled out if she spun around.

Valentine's Day wasn't really her holiday, but she wasn't going to pass up her first dance at a new school, particularly when there hadn't really been any good parties yet.

Leo had never been to a dance before (they weren't really popular in schools for juvenile delinquents) but he had seen enough movies to know what to do. After Iris'ing Piper and attempting to ask her to ask her mom to get him some awesome clothes again (she said no), he managed to get Luke to (presumably steal) a suit his size. He even managed to stay away from grease long enough to make it to the dance completely clean.

He looked around at the decorations when he came inside, sort of disappointed that there weren't cheesy hearts and cupids around to make fun of.

Percy's suit wasn't fancy by any means of the imagination but it was a suit and it was, of course, dark blue. Of course it was. He wandered in and looked around approvingly of the decorations before glancing up at Luke.

"No dolphins in the sky this time," he remarked idly, snickering. "I feel less at home already."

And... a really cheap suit, because he didn't actually make that much money at Turtle and Canary. But he didn't care all that much right now (suits were still a little weird for him at parties anyway). He was here with Cally.

Elphaba didn't have a date, and Elphaba did not care that she didn't have a date. She could have plenty of fun on her own, thank you very much. While she wasn't always a bastion of confidence, she had told herself that she was going to have fun at this dance, whether other people liked it or not.

So she arrived, hair down, glasses off, and a rather pretty deep blue dress on. It even exposed her shoulders. Scandal!

Rilla loved her pretty new dress (http://www.vintagestyleclothing.com/40005iv1.jpg), and thought that all of the flowers in the hall were terribly romantic, if not as thoughtful as the lavender roses she had tucked up into her curls.

Ben had stepped away from his usual attire of black flight suit or Jedi robes and into a navy blue suit with a crisp white shirt and a dark red tie.

He looked like a really uncomfortable politician, but at least he looked like he was from Earth tonight?

For once, Alex hadn't headed right for the darker areas of the dance. Instead, he wandered over to the food and drinks, picking up some punch and glancing around to see who he might spot in the crowd.

Lurk amongst the flowers! Hibiscus, bougainvillea, jasmine, and water lilies are predominant in massive quantities.

Ender had his spot here by now, and he didn't mind. He was sipping a glass of milk (...yes, milk at a high school party. Live the dream, Ender.) and observing the people as they went around having fun.

Jaina was here, she was faking happy to be here, and she was only getting drinks while she knew the punch was unspiked because it was a school event and she was responsible like that.

Had she mentioned lately that it was weird chaperoning a dance you used to attend as a student? Because it was.

Elphaba Thropp was going to dance as if she just didn't care what anyone thought. She was out on the dance floor, dancing in a fashion that would be somewhat peculiar even by Oz standards. She did, however, look rather nice in her deep blue dress.
