Caritas | Wednesday
Why break a routine, right? Nathan made it three weeks in a row in the bar on a Wednesday and three weeks in a row, he ended up behind the bar when Tino's regular bartender didn't show up again. Nathan was beginning to think this guy was on sabbatical or some shit. Or maybe he was mad at Tino.
No matter, Nathan grabbed a bottle of Irish whiskey and set it up on the bar, pouring himself a glass and downing it quickly. He wasn't thinking of the bitchy fight he'd had with Kate earlier or any of the other million weird and complicated things that had happened to him lately.
Nope, he was a man who had liquor and that would erase all those thoughts he didn't want to have right now. Okay, maybe those thoughts were sticking around but Nathan was ignoring that fact. He was toasting the band and toasting Tino and toasting Tino's attempts at singing with the band.

Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
There was no way he was letting her walk home drunkenly. It was one of the few chivalrous things he'd do for one of the few people that actually mattered to him.
"And do you wanna kiss me?" Nathan asked curiously. "You know, you've never actually said one way or another. You kissed me once to thank me and then lectured me when I said I wanted to kiss you. Not really giving off any specific vibe either time, Caroline. How's a bloke not supposed to be confused?"

Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"Do you want to sleep on the beach, Caroline?" Nathan asked her, amused despite himself. He still didn't feel all that dumb about this because she still hadn't really admitted anything he didn't know. "I didn't think you'd really be one for getting sand in your pants and having the inevitable thigh chafing that goes along with it. And what if you woke up with sand in your mouth? Sounds delicious, doesn't it?"
It hadn't been a beach but Nathan sure had woken up in some weird places with sand in his mouth. "And I don't think you want to kiss me, Caroline. You can't admit it so I think it's all just a ruse. Maybe you just wanted a pair of warm lips."
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"You keep calling me a dummy," he pointed out, sliding their glass back a little and using the bar to hold himself up. His legs were like fucking jelly right now. That didn't stop him from leaning closer to her and slapping on a grin. "But, I'm the one who knows what he wants and you don't."
He punctuated that by poking her chest once. "Cuz, I told you I wanted to kiss you a few days ago. That's not a surprise anymore. I know what I want."
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"I want many things. World peace. A Starbucks in town. Jimmy Choo's on my very cute and not gross feet. A furry kitten that I won't kill. One of those segway things would even be nice. I'd even let you ride on it if you were nice."
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"And the day world peace happens, those brainless beauty pageant contestants will have nothing to fake cry about when it's time to talk," he continued, shaking his head. "I don't know what a Jimmy Choo is but he must be pretty tolerant if he puts his face on your feet and I would rather walk on glass that had been sprinkled with alcohol and vinegar and sprayed with acid than ride a Segway. But, I'm impressed, you do want things even if they're a little...dodgy."
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"Oh, that's another thing you should know," she said in that light, sing-song tone she seemed to like while intoxicated. "You have your hands on the reigning Miss Mystic Falls. Don't like pageant winners?"
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"There are exceptions to all rules," he answered, tilting his head and looking down at her. "You can be my exception to my very valid pageant princess rule. While they're all off babbling about saving the whales and planting trees, I'll know, in my heart of hearts, that you're more interesting and three dimensional than that. You are a real girl!"
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Caroline decided that she'd be super nice despite his dumbness and lean up to try and kiss him. It seemed quite the thing to do with him holding on to her and asking if she wanted to kiss him and all that stupid talking nonsense.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Still, it was nice to not have to babble his way around that little mistake further. It was even nicer that it looked like he was gonna get to use his mouth for other things. Drunk or not, he wasn't gonna shy away from this though he did let her come to him this time. He'd be returning that kiss immediately, though, because it wasn't like he didn't want it. He did. Quite a lot, actually.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Not to say she didn't want to kiss him normally; it was just easier this way.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Even drunk, Nathan responded quickly, matching her eagerness with some of his own even while wrapping his arms around her to keep her pressed tight against him. The bar was just going to prop them both up so neither fell and Nathan was just gonna enjoy being able to taste the liquor on her lips and tongue.
Drunken kissing was pretty fucking sweet, Nathan had to agree.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Enjoy that, Nathan, she was probably going to forget it ever happened later.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Right now, he remembered, though, and that was what counted. He had to brace himself a little more securely against the bar so she wouldn't knock him over but he otherwise matched her pretty fucking evenly. If she wanted to climb him, he'd let her and if she wanted to be touched, well, he had two hands and they were already clutching at her back and tangling in the ends of her hair.
God, Nathan hoped he didn't forget this. Like a fucking lot.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
For once there was no background chatter in her mind, telling her she was a moron for kissing such a dumbass or that she should be asking him questions about how many VD she might possibly get just from this little makeout session.
Oh yes, she'd be repressing it if he didn't bring it up.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Now, he might have dropped her if she started calling him a dumbass or questioning if he was clean or not (because he was!) but since that was restricted to her thoughts, he didn't have to drop her. And since they were about as close as they could right now, Nathan just made to press himself tighter against her because, well, he wanted to be touched just as badly as she did and he wanted to kiss her as deeply as he could.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Carefully, she nipped at his lip, pulling away just enough to let him have a moment to breathe. Even if breathing meant thinking.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Nathan wasn't really thinking, though. He was more feeling. Considering the way she was wrapped around him and the way he was holding her, the feel of her was kind of fogging up his brain and destroying his attempts at doing anything else.
He licked his lower lip and then tried to lick hers, oblivious to her any potential thinking she might be doing.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Nathan was just going to take advantage of the closeness to press a kiss up under her chin because it was just there and he hadn't kissed that spot. "I'm not gonna drop you. I promise."
Drunken promises were still promises!
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Too bad she wasn't always picky about the who.
"Think you can carry me?" Caroline asked, tilting her head back and letting out a little breath because she so missed being kissed like that.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
"To where?" he thought to ask after a moment though the words were slightly muffled by her skin and the way he couldn't seem to remove his lips from neck.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Oh fuck, she thought, eyes popping open, dark black veins framing them as long, sharp fangs slid between her other teeth. Caroline took a quick breath, trying to let the air out slowly and focus on the good feelings, the parts of Nathan that were annoying but she'd never wish away.
As much as she hoped he wouldn't notice, she still tensed against him, unable to answer his question for all she was focusing on de-vamping before he moved away from her neck.
Re: The Bar [Caritas 02/16]
Still, even someone as drunk and as egotistical as Nathan wasn't going to be oblivious forever. She was pressed so tight against him and so wrapped around him that noticing the tension was inevitable especially when it hadn't been there before.
"You all right?" he mumbled, dragging his mouth up one side of her neck and to her cheek, spending a few moments actually nuzzling against her cheek with his nose and cheek. Luckily, he'd closed his eyes for the moment. "Caroline?"
