Jaina had been having an interesting day. There was jumping on various turtles except for the ones with spikes and mushrooms except for the ones that made you bigger, getting bigger and then getting smaller, hitting her head on bricks and going through green tubes, and she seemed to accidentally have coins now.

She didn't even know.

At any rate, she was tired and frustrated and determined not to end up in the kriffing lobby again when she got to the bar... only to find a turtle pacing in front of the door. With a glare, she jumped onto its back easily, making really very sure that she didn't send the shell ricocheting into anything. Instead, she carefully picked the thing up, and when she stayed where she was, she took it inside, slammed it down on the bartop triumphantly and it was just going to sit there all night, just because.

Of course, when she realized Tino wasn't there, her little victory was forgotten in hoping he hadn't ended up in the lobby. She would not want to see him in the dorms.

[ETA: Btw, um yes that turtle shell is just begging for something to happen. Feel free to make it so.]

After some pretty wacky races in the park, Lucas skated into the bar for a drink. "Hey. You got one of those boxes over there?"

Jaina had been more focused on making sure nothing turtlelike came through the door, so she had no idea what he was talking about. "Boxes?"

"The box with the question mark," Lucas said, pointing over to it. "They give powerups. Kind of like drinks do for me, but, you know, easier."

Jaina looked over, eying the block warily. And suddenly his powerup thing made so much more sense. "Do you know what that one does?" she asked.

"No clue. But I'm not touching it. I can shoot fireballs right now. I'm happy enough with that," Lucas said. "Vodka and Red Bull, by the way."

Jaina stared at him for a second before going to get the drink together. "You can shoot fireballs?" And then she added automatically because it was him, "Don't show me."

Lucas turned his head and spat toward the door. A fireball shot out of his mouth and bounced across the room, hit the door, and just kind of popped. "It doesn't actually set anything on fire, but it's not too bad."

"What did I just say about not showing me?" she said, distractedly passing him his drink as she looked towards the door. "So if it doesn't set anything on fire, what does it do?"

"Kills the turtles and mushroom guys. Freaks people out when you spit at them," Lucas said. "That won me a few races earlier. Well, that and these guys." He gestured toward the turtle shell.

That earned the turtle shell an automatic glare from Jaina. "What about the cloud guys? Does it work on the cloud guys?"

She hated the cloud guys. A lot.

"If you could throw it high enough, probably," Lucas said. "I hate those cloud guys. One of them fished a guy I was racing out of the pond. How's that fair?"

Yes, complain about the ONE GOOD THING a Lakitu had done.

"Uh. The cloud guy saved the racer?" she checked. Just to be sure.

"I think the kid was just that pathetic," Lucas said.

"Yes. How dare the cloud guy help someone out," Jaina said dryly. "At least he didn't throw a spiky turtle at you while he did it."

"I think those guys know I'm on their side. And I only started jumping on turtles so I could use their shells to knock out people in races," Lucas said.

Oh, Lucas.

"I hear if you just let them run into you, you get twice as tall," Jaina lied.

"I've been watching this stuff since yesterday. I know that's not true, but good try," Lucas said.

Jaina scowled. "Can't blame a girl for trying."

"Sure I can!" Lucas said. "You're getting a terrible tip."

Hey, she had random gold coins. "I'll be so very sorry to lose it," she said evenly. "I don't know how I'll get over that."

"The same way you usually do, I'm guessing," Lucas said.

Was that another block appearing over there? Why, yes. Yes it was.
