Caritas; Thursday Night

Tino about had a heart attack when Chuck hobbled into the bar Thursday night. Chuck didn't offer any explanations, just politely asked Tino to pull a bar stool to the other side for him to sit on and then settled down with a Diet Coke. See? He was doing awesome at this nice thing so far.

Jaina had no idea whether or not anyone else would be coming by tonight, but she had to get out of her bare apartment for a while. And because she hadn't been able to make it out here on Monday, she figured she could get in one last Caritas visit.

So it was a pleasant surprise to see Chuck at the bar. And yes, despite appearances, she could tell it was Chuck. Sometimes being a Jedi was fun. "You're here!"

"I am," he said, giving her a smile. "For at least the summer, it seems."

"Welcome back," she said, taking a seat at the bar. "How are you doing? And did they let you go or did you escape?"

"I stayed for as long as the doctors wanted me to," Chuck said. "Impressed?"

"I am," she said, even golf clapping a little. "I really wasn't sure you'd last that long, but I'm glad you did."

"I wouldn't have gotten far if I tried to make an escape attempt," Chuck said, shaking his head. "It took me like a half hour just to walk here today."

She frowned at that, and peered over the counter. "You have the cane?"

Chuck lifted up said cane, which was plain and black and in no way a pimp cane. Which was unfortunate. "I decided to go for a subtle look."

"You seem to be working with a whole new look altogether," she noticed.

Chuck shrugged. "Decided to make things simpler. This way I don't have to ask people to help me get dressed in the morning. I'm not sure Principal Winchester would have gone for that."

Jaina paused. "Does that mean you're staying with her, or is there something going on I don't know about?" It was Chuck, you never knew.

"Oh god, I'm just staying with her," Chuck said, laughing a little. "I'm pretty sure I'd get shot again if I even thought about that idea."
