Turtle & Canary; Tuesday [ 05/24 ].

Shunsui had to admit, the rain and the newest location was getting him quite a bit down. Wooing went much easier when there was sunshine and sakura, and he was a man of ancient Japan. This modern one confused him in more ways than he'd be willing to admit. He figured it was a blessing in disguise that he should be inside the nice and dry Turtle & Canary today.

Nice and dry with plenty of booze.

He thought maybe he should maybe put umbrellas on sale or something, but he figured he was feeling too lazy and depressed. But then a wonderful thought struck him, his mood lifted, and there was a sign in the window:

Ah, there we go! Perhaps now the day could start getting better!

The only qualification Bo cared about was the soaked one; she didn't even register the sign's main text until she was already ducking through the doorway to get out of the rain.

Not that it did a lot of good; she'd already reached the sopping stage, where coming inside just meant it was her hair that was raining on everything around her instead of the sky. Still...

"Did I see something about a free towel?"

And, once more, Shunsui was left wondering why he didn't do the sign thing more often. Sure, it didn't always work, but when it worked, it worked.

"You most certainly did ♥," he said, tilting his head a moment at the sopping woman; most likely, Apu-san wouldn't be too pleased about this sign, considering it would up his mopping quotient for the week, but if it kept Apu-san busy, it was just another win for Shunsui.

He held out a folded towel from a pile he'd brought over to the counter. "Turkish cotton, too ♥," he said. "Come; dry off, warm up, enjoy the wonderful company ♥."

"Thanks." Bo was grateful enough for the towel that he didn't get an eyeroll for that last one, just a laugh as she took it and started trying to soak up some of the lake that had taken up residence in her hair. "Wonderful company meaning you, or is this place the big daytime hangout around here?" She looked around for... anybody who wasn't him.

Which would be Apu, the panda, the turtle, the canary, and Bob the SquishyBot, so there were a few options, but of course Shunsui had his own hopes as to what her preferences might be.

"I'll leave that to you to decide ♥," said Shunsui. "I would put myself in that category, but I am a little biased ♥."

"Well, you're already ahead by one for the towel." Bo grinned. No, he was ahead by three for being easy on both the eyes and the nose. Gah, Vikings who weren't Eric. "And you get extra points for not only having heard of soap, but selling it. I need to stock my place up; might as well do that while I'm here."

"Would I earn myself a few more points if I threw that in for free, as well ♥?" Shunsui wondered, with a grinning tone that suggested he wasn't concerned about needing the points, but that he wouldn't mind having as much as he could collect, just to have them.

That earned him an eyebrow, at least, however useful it might be. "You just like to give away bath products, or do I sense an ulterior motive at work here?"

"Well," said Shunsui with a shrug that did not at all match the lingering of his gaze, "that depends an awful lot on who the bath products are going to ♥."

Usually I have to work harder at this, Bo thought to herself. Like actually touch people to convince them to give her free stuff.

"Somebody who doesn't have a bathtub yet," she admitted. Or running water, but one thing at a time. "You don't happen be giving those away too, do you?"

She didn't really expect the answer to be yes, but she did have a feeling it would be amusing.

Funny. Shunsui was thinking right along the same lines on how he usually had to work harder at this, too, but, really, any little bit of work was right up there with too hard for him.

Because she just set him up perfectly for that one.

"No," Shunsui said, feigning sadness before offering, "but I do have one you can borrow ♥."

Bo gave that the laughter it was due. "Walked right into that, didn't I. And I suppose you'd be only too happy to scrub my back free of charge too."

"Not only that ♥," said Shunsui, bowing his head with a tilt of his hat, "but I'd be honoured to have the privilege, as well ♥."

There was a line between facepalm-inducing and so-over-the-top-it's-kind-of-adorable; this guy was riding a unicycle blindfolded along that line while balancing three purple balloons and a fish on his head.

"You know, as tempted as I am to take you up on that..." And she kind of really was. Even the loofah assistance, because really. "I..."

Aww, hell. She had to figure out a polite way to ask sometime. "...kind of need to know a few things about people before I start borrowing plumbing fixtures from them. Like whether they're human." Wait. "Also their name. That would be good." What? Like she usually asked names for this kind of thing? "I'm Bo."

Like whether they're human. Shunsui had to smirk a little at that, with a little tug at his hat. Having been human before was close enough, right? He was certainly still human-shaped.

"Shunsui Kyōraku ♥," he offered, sweeping into a little bow. "The pleasure is all mine, Bo-chan ♥."

It took a second for her to process the chan, but the skyline off the island's coast today helped with that.

"Why don't we just split the pleasure fifty-fifty?" Um. "Except not literally, sorry. Not if that was you saying you are human."

And those few little statements were quite curious, really. Shunsui tilted his head. "I've got no problem with more of the pleasure going your way ♥," he assured her with a grin. "That is what I'm good at, you know ♥. But....well, and if I wasn't?"

Oh. Oh ho ho ho ho. That's because he'd clearly never slept with a whatever-Bo-was. "If you weren't, you'd maybe have a chance of surviving the experience."

That...sounded less like bragging in her head.

"Then today must really be my lucky day ♥!" Shunsui said with a laugh. "Because out of all the words one could use to describe my charming self, human hasn't been one of them for hundreds of years, my dear ♥."

"...Another vampire? Not that I'm complaining, but wow, this island is crawling with you guys!"

"Not a vampire ♥," Shunsui assured her, chuckling. "More like...." He looked thoughtful for a moment. He could say Shinigami, but the literal translation sounded so much more impressive. "Death god, really ♥."

Which was totally better than vampire...

"...You know, I'm actually impressed that you didn't say sex god. I can't imagine the restraint that must have taken."

Where "..." equaled Bo taking a moment to swallow that idea while not saying seriously???? out loud because she'd done that enough with Mitchell and Eric.

"Well," Shunsui said with an oh-so-modest shrug, "that's best shown rather than said ♥. Anyone can say their a sex god...♥."

And he just liked to prove it.

Bo paused and thought very hard before saying the next thing she said. For at least 15 seconds.

"If you're lying, this is gonna be the best bath you've ever had, but I get to take the tub when I leave, because you won't need it anymore. Just putting that out there."

That was a lot of words for you really do need to the sign thing more often.

Being dead was awesome.

"That seems like a fair enough trade to me ♥," Shunsui mused happily. "It's a very nice tub; I think you'll like it ♥."

And yet? Not the most surreal conversation she'd had since coming to this island.

"I feel I have to ask you a very serious question, then. It wouldn't be fair not to."

"By all means....♥," Shunsui nodded his head and looked at her expectantly. As much as he'd dislike a delay in any potentially dangerous sexy fun bathtub times, he was a little bit intrigued by what the question may be.

"Which aisle do you keep the bubble bath in?"

And Shunsui was not disappointed by the importance of that question. Not at all.

"That," he said after a laugh, "would be Aisle ~~handwavey~~ ♥."

Best. Job. Ever.
