The Devil's Nest, Saturday Evening, 6/25

From the muttering that Bo was hearing from the end of the bar where Tiny leaned and poked at his phone, she gathered that tonight was going to be one of those nights where she'd probably have to keep half an eye on the customers herself. The bouncer was going to be too busy bitching at Tino -- either out loud or via text -- to be the first on the floor if a fight broke out.

Fine with Bo; physically spiffy but mentally twitchy from worrying about the sources of all that spiff, she almost looked forward to some kind of scuffle. Busting some heads would distract her.

Of course, by the third time she heard him yell Sixty points for QAT?? How is that even a WORD? at no one in particular, Bo was wondering if she should start with Tiny's. "Can't you two just shoot birds at pigs like normal people?"

"I can see why you might hold a grudge," Bo agreed noncommittally because, well. "Pretty sure Eric's safe on that account, though." Except possibly from dying of laughter if Jessica tried to bite him against his will.

If Mulder visited again, and did his usual flirting-with-bartenders thing, well.... Heh.

"Good enough." Pacified, Scully took another sip of her drink, then grimaced. "It's just-- annoying. To be stuck at this age, when I can't back him up like I used to."

She sounded serious - and not like she was still trying to get hard liquor out of Bo. "You really did have an FBI partner."

"I really did." Scully could've been annoyed, but she chose to be amused, playing with her little umbrella. "Six years. And I wish that was the first time he'd been bitten by a vampire. Or let his curiosity nearly get him killed."

"Sounds like somebody who needs backup, yeah." The idea of having backup felt weird and foreign to Bo, after living so long on her own. Having or being it. "And possibly the not-dirty kind of leash."

Scully snorted, and grumbled, "He'd probably enjoy that, too." Ahem. Not that she knew that personally. But. "I was supposed to be the leash-holder, but he's been on his own a year now, and only ended up in the hospital once, so... then again, there's been three calls for bail, so maybe he's just switching kinds of trouble to get into."
