Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

Well. A bit of chaos always perked Alice's mood considerably. She greatly appreciated her new hat, especially the rather fetching earflaps, and she had caught several pairs of both pink and blue baby booties on her way to work this mornng.

Was that the weather's way of suggesting she ought to be shopping for clothes for the bump? At least now she had a head start on that.

Today would be hat- and shoe-themed, Alice decided. She worked on creating a playlist for that, in order to amuse herself.

Kate had a pretty spiffy hat on, too. It was a sock monkey winter hat, to be exact, and it wasn't a gift from Fandom but was instead something she'd bought in Kansas kind of a long time ago.

The dozen pairs of baby booties in her arms were new, though. If she hadn't already been on her way to visit one of the two pregnant women she knew, those would've definitely made her want to do it.

"Should I be expecting some alternative universe babies to show up next?" she wondered by way of greeting as she made her way in, arms full. "Or is the island just really confused about exactly how young we are?"

"They usually send children, not babes," Alice said cheerfully. Her fledgling playlist was in the middle of a particularly bizarre (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA) song about shoes. One she was growing fond of. "Oh, your hat is a great deal more festive than mine. I'm envious. Have I turned green? I've yet to see someone green with envy, you know. That expression seems terribly abused to me."

"Nope, you seem to be normal human-colored," Kate replied, dumping her baby booties on the counter before tugging on one of her hat's pompoms. "And thanks. I bought this back home."

"Then I shan't be upset with the clouds for not providing me with one," she said. "Is that a monkey? Have you ever turned green? I was red once but I can't recall if I was green or not. Perhaps the bump is borrowing my memory today."

She hadn't elevated to actually naming the little one yet, but acknowledging her in conversation was a first step.

It was definitely a start, and one Kate noticed, too. "No, all I've ever been is this color," she said. "'Less you wanna count that I'm kinda... orangey, I guess? When I'm a cat. Which I was, again, until yesterday."

"Does that happen frequently?" Alice asked. "One wonders if there's some strange Fandom allergy causing the reaction. I should like to be a cat, I would think. So long as someone was there to set out food dishes and saucers of milk."

She couldn't imagine eating mice. She'd spoken to too many, and that generally led to difficulties.

"I think this was my fifth time," Kate mused, shrugging a shoulder. "And I had my boyfriend to look after me and let me sleep all over him, so I was good."

And amusing the hell out of him with her incredible laziness.
