Nathan still hated the fucking snow. He had to wear like five pairs (okay, not really) of underwear just to keep his fucking balls from freezing. England got cold but they never got this cold and never in fucking July.

He was grouchy when he arrived so he ordered Tino to go out and sweep the fucking walkway so no one fell and broke their bloody neck. Tino obliged with few objections leaving Nathan alone in the bar. Well, that got boring quick so Nathan stalked over to the door and started throwing glasses of water onto the walkway to ice it up.

If Tino slipped and fell, well, Nathan would laugh his ass off. Tino was just grumbling and shoveling and probably contemplating hitting Nathan in the head with the shovel.

"Is a hot toddy a real thing?" Quinn asked grouchily as she climbed onto a stool. "And can you make me one if it is?"

She'd been working all day. She was entitled to a drink.

"Hot toddy?" Nathan asked, looking mock thoughtful. "I think you'd find that sort of fellow in a gay bar, actually. Not that I've been in one but okay I've been in one but it was only to take a piss!"

Amazingly enough, Nathan did know how to make a hot toddy so now it was a matter of finding the stuff to make it with and getting it made.

"Yeah, Nathan, I don't remember asking where you like to pee, but thanks for the information," Quinn said, mock-sincerely. "I had to work today. It's cold and I don't wanna walk back to the dorms."

"Hey, I'm the fucking bartender, I'm just sharing my many years of wisdom," Nathan told her, getting to work on making the drink. "And I had to go to fucking work too. Did you see Tino? He's out there right now making sure it's safe for you and all your friends to come in here and warm your frozen asses. You should be thanking him and then thanking me for ordering him out there!"

"Thanks for ordering him out there," Quinn drawled. "It's still icy. You might have to do it yourself."

Then she considered what he was doing. "After you make my drink."

"It's fucking cold out there!" Nathan pointed out, shaking his head. "Why the hell should I go out there and freeze my nipples off until they crack and fall off and I have to get prosthesis? Tino's fine out there and your drink's almost done."

Miley had printed out a whole bunch of fliers for the karaoke party on Saturday, and she figured the best place for fliers to go would be at the site itself! So she skipped over to Caritas and bounced over to the bar.

"Hi! I'm Miley! Can I put fliers up?"

She was way, way too excited and Nathan just gave her a look before flicking his eyes down to the fliers.

"For what?" he asked.

"There's a party here on Saturday!" she exclaimed. And she may have sounded sliiightly affronted, just because, well, she had sent out an email. DUH, NATHAN. "See?"

She held up one of the fliers (http://i54.tinypic.com/sxyrgp.jpg) as proof.

"Caroline?" Nathan asked because he did recognize that name. "Caroline Forbes, the blonde chick who sounds like she might be inhaling helium when she gets all worked up but sometimes it's kind of cute so that doesn't matter?"

"I guess?" Miley said. She tilted her head, processing that. Then she grinned and shrugged. "Yeah, pretty much!"

Miley squinted at him, like she was trying to place him somehow. Then her mouth fell open and she pointed at him. "You're Nathan! The crude roommate!"

...Well, at least he knew that already.

"Miley!" Quinn called, several sips into her hot toddy. "Hey! So, karaoke party?"

It was a party, She was in favor.

"Yup!" And Miley had no idea what Quinn was drinking, so she had to assume it was alcoholic and thus THE DEVIL and to be avoided.

"Thanks!" It was always nice to be complimented on one's design work. "I was thinking about making them kind of shiny and sparkly, but then I thought, you know, we want boys to come too! Purple and shiny's not so bad for boys, right?"

Quinn squinted at Miley, trying to decide if she was joking. Probably not -- but she was trying to be at least vaguely nice to the newbie, so:

"The boys will come because there are cute girls," she said. "I mean, we aren't six. They don't need color-coded invitations."

Was it weird that had only just occured to her once Quinn had said it?

"I was just here trying to get Pip over there to let me put up some fliers, but I guess he's not up for it," she said with a dramatic sigh, jerking her head toward Nathan. Who, yes, had told her his name was Pip. "Oh, well. Guess everyone got the e-vite anyway."
