Harper figured that people had enough hats to last for a while, but there was still so much warm clothing she could sell them. She went through the backroom and pulled out all the sweaters she could find, even the ugly ones. They were still warm, and sweaters were the easiest things to re-purpose into mittens.

Things Reborn was warm, cozy and open!

Point out the ugliest sweaters and she'll give you a discount.

At some point Jack entered the store, shivering as he tried to rub some warmth into his bare arms. He then disappeared into the clothing section and emerged a few minutes later with several thermal shirts, a few ugly sweaters and a new down jacket. All of which he dropped on the counter.

"How much for all of this?" he asked as his teeth chattered.

Harper looked everything over, trying to decide just how ugly the sweaters were. "I can give you all of that for $15," she finally decided. "You've got an eye for discount shopping, I see. The sweaters are today's special discount, the thermals went on markdown back in spring, and I think I marked down all the jackets after the ski trip last fall."

"Sold," Jack said gratefully. "There's not a problem if I wear some of this home, is there?"

"Not at all!" said Harper, just happy to make a sale. "Did you need any other cold weather gear? There's some hand-made nice woolen mittens."

She'd knit them herself. They were warm but they also were in bright shades of orange and green.

"Yeeeah, I'll pass," Jack said as he took off the sleeveless coat and pulled a thermal shirt over his sleeveless shirt.

There was an audible sigh followed by: "Take my word on it. Never discount the simple joy of having sleeves."

"Sleeves are marvelous things, especially when they give more opportunities for embellishing an outfit," said Harper. "Plus they're really nice to have when it gets this cold."

Because you know better to rely on Harper's sense of fashion if you want to protect your eyeballs.

It feels painful to think of sweaters when it's so hot outside.
