Groovy Tunes - Friday [July 29th]

Seifer didn't know what was up with everything right now. Ever since the move to the cabins, he had felt off, sort of like he was lagging behind or something. It was just really weird.

Which probably explained why he was playing 60's and 70's LSD type music, giving the shop a trippy vibe.

He's feeling a little strange.

Squall hadn't meant to walk into Groovy Tunes, but he wasn't about to admit that -- not with Seifer standing there.

Whatever.

He could probably use some music, anyway, so he started looking through the collection. ...And since choosing an album by its cover art would be stupid and pointless, but his only other real option was to ask Seifer for help, he just sort of browsed aimlessly.

Seifer watched Squall wander around for a while, smirking the whole time. Eventually he got bored with that and needed a new distraction. And Squall made the perfect target.

"You have no idea what you're looking for, do you?" he asked, leaning against the counter.

"Music," Squall answered poutily. That was obvious enough, wasn't it? Why else would he be in the store?

Seifer was not going to comment on the attitude, nope. Not him.

"What kind of music? Rock? Emo? Super-emo?" Because he could probably find it for him. "Rebecca Black?" Because, it was Friday!

"GOOD music," Squall clarified. "Not emo." Because Squall wasn't emo at all and didn't understand why people always thought he was. "What do you like to listen to?"

"Punk, rock, metal." He pulled out Metallica's Black album, Soundgarden's 'Superunknown' and 'Blood Sugar Sex Magick' by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and handed the discs to Squall.

"These three are good to start with."

Squall looked at Seifer closely, and decided he was probably telling the truth about the albums being good. "Okay. Thanks." He even managed half of a smile, because he figured Rinoa would want him to be nicer to Seifer. "I'll listen to them tonight."

...You know, for someone who was always complaining about Squall being emo, Seifer might want to reconsider introducing him to "Under the Bridge" and "Black Hole Sun".

Seifer would argue that those were introspective and thought-provoking songs and they were not emo.

Emo was Bright Eyes and the other Oberst wannabes.

"Good. And then next week, I'll introduce you to Green Day and Pearl Jam. Maybe something old school too, like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Zepplin."

He had been learning a lot about music the last few months.

"You haven't been here long enough to be 'old school'," Squall pointed out. He'd been in Fandom a lot longer than Seifer, after all. And the idea of Seifer having anything to teach him made him grumpy.

Seifer chuckled and shook his head. "No, but the bands are. Most of the worlds, they're a major part of current music's history."

"I'm still trying to figure out 'Stairway to Heaven' though," he remarked as he picked up a cd of Zepplin's Greatest Hits.

"The stairway is probably metaphorical," Squall offered helpfully. If it hadn't have been for Ms. Perrault, and before her, Ms. Bennett, he wouldn't have figured that out so quickly.

"Really?" Yes, Seifer was being an ass now. But, a nice one at least.

He shoved the CD in Squall's direction. "Here, take it. I should sneak something crazy in there, but I'll be nice."
