Kenzi was pretty much not dealing with the cook who was now on a fall-themed bender. On the other hand: pie.

Trooper Station, Wednesday

Well, this job definitely rolled like an egg. Running around town chasing gremlins one day, hanging around the bullpen throwing darts the next.

Tamsin had a little wager going with the troopers. They seemed to think she couldn't hit a dartboard from right across the room. Since she didn't have anything better to do, she'd answered "Oh, fuck it" and gone hunting for an actual dartboard.

Turned out the old one was broken. And formerly on fire. And had half a picture of some guy taped to it that she couldn't identify. Couldn't get the story out of the troopers, though, so that time-waster was a no-go.

She hung it right opposite her desk across the bullpen. There. "Watch me."

Furnado Animal Shelter, Wednesday

No sooner than had April arrived for her shift today than did a middle-aged woman stop by holding a basket of tiny... uh, somethings. Creatures with beaks.

Apparently her pet had laid eggs and she wanted to make sure the babies went to a good home. As April handed her the usual paperwork to fill out for an animal drop-off, the woman hesitated over the blank left for the animal's species.

"The thing is, I'm not really sure," she said after some hemming and hawing over it. "I could bring in their mother and you could give me your opinion? -- Well, actually, I'm not sure she'd quite fit through the door..."

"No," April interrupted her. "Thanks. Just give us your best guess."

Today, the sign on the door that said NOW HIRING was accompanied by another sign, this one reading ADOPT A MYSTERY PET. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO, followed by a pencil illustration of the beaked creatures. They were pretty cute.

The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

The DJ had apparently decided to take sides in the big celebrity break up of the week by playing Miley Cyrus non-stop. He was possibly also wearing a flesh toned plastic bikini.

You know, it was possible that this was the only kind of professional they could get to live and work on island. At least, that's what Derek told himself as he tried to unsee that bikini.

The horror would never end.

Caritas, Wednesday

Football was okay and all, but Jake was beginning to get tired of it. The sport was an okay enough thing to pass the time during the summer when there was no hockey on, but... well, now that hockey season was gearing up, Jake was glad to have something else to watch. Even if they were just preseason games.
