Caritas, Sunday, 8/21
Jack was a bit melancholy when he got to the bar. It had been a weekend of lasts and goodbyes; last island dance, a goodbye party for Kate, and now his next-to-last shift in the bar. Of course there would be visits, but none of it would ever be the same. Even London wouldn't be the same.
He took out some scratch paper and started making a list. There were things to be done this week, no question. The question would be if there'd be time.

Kenzi would be standing in front of them and staring until they started throwing things at her.

Re: The Bar [8/21]
Hi, Kenzi.
"Beer me!"

Re: The Bar [8/21]
"This town we're visiting messes with everything," Kenzi said, smirking a little.
There might be a good bit of paint on her fingers. No reason. "Thank youuu!" Slurrrp.

Really, if Kenzi was going to lie, she should get better at it. But Jack would withhold that advice for now.

"The food rain is more fun when it isn't sticky." Someone had spent much of Friday washing Cherry Garcia out of his curls. " Muffins work nicely, that way -- and don't talk to me about the drinking age. It's absurd. Either you have enough sense to act as an adult when you're sixteen, or you never will."

Heh. That was a funny mental image. Jack smiled slightly, picturing it. Then: "The beach on the island isn't enough for you?"

"How do you know Kate?" he asked. "I saw you at the theater today, but I was on my way out by the time you got there."

Re: The Bar [8/21]
Sometimes, of course, he was a flaming disaster. But he hadn't gotten Jack almost killed lately. Jack could be generous.

Well, probably not, breathing and all, and previously going to high school, but the joke wasn't un-funny yet.
"Not the kind to screw over Bo. Which is what I wanted to be sure of."
Re: The Bar [8/21]
"Like me," he said, deceptively sunny. He'd go along with the joke as long as she would. "And you're right -- I don't think he'd hurt anyone on purpose."
Not on purpose was a whole different story, but Jack figured that was something to bring up with Mitchell before he started spouting information at Kenzi.
"He's had a rough year, but ... we all have pasts."
Re: The Bar [8/21]
given the unfinished threadwho she could say stuff about Mitchell to, so diverting the attention to Eric had seemed the way to go."Good to hear," she said, for once a bit more sober. "I mean, you can't ask for more than that, right?" Not when Bo was just getting past her own kind of accidental carnage. "She's a good friend. And I still owe her, is all. She had my back once when I was in a bad spot." People should know that about Bo, even if they couldn't know how.

Byyyy sucking the life out of Mr. Smiley. But. Hey. He died really happy!
Re: The Bar [8/21]
Jack managed not to snigger on 'vulnerable,' even though he'd already formed the impression Kenzi was about as vulnerable as he was.
