Mystery Sign Theatre 3000, Wednesday

It felt funny to be having her last shift after already having had a goodbye party at work, but that was what Kate was doing now. It would've felt even weirder not to work her last shift, to be honest, when she wasn't actually leaving until tomorrow – a fact which she was trying her hardest not to think about.

Luckily, she had enough things to distract herself with. She reorganized the concessions stand one last time, then wandered around the lobby taking pictures of damn near everything. She'd been handwavily doing that a lot elsewhere around town too, after coming back from her trip to Indonesia. She couldn't help wanting tangible proof she'd actually been here, like it was possible that once in Kansas, she'd start thinking Fandom had all been a wacky dream. Like some Dorothy.

So, she took photographs. She even snapped a few pictures of Box Office Guy, who was trying his hardest to ignore her. He was also still sniffling a bit, though he was meekly claiming it was because of Kate's pick for the day's movie, though that was... not exactly a credible excuse.

Sure, it was a vampire flick and she tended to stay away from those these days, but... Somehow, it felt appropriate for her last Fandom days, and it wasn't as if she was going to have to watch it (and she wasn't going to be able to – the main character's mom would make sure of that). Plus, Colin Farrell was hot.

MST3000 was open for business, and totally mourning the fast-approaching loss of its favorite employee.

Nathan knew Kate was leaving soon and while he knew he'd see her before she left (because she'd probably kill him if he didn't show), he decided to populate the movie theatre for her on her last shift. Nope, he was going to make her work.

"I've come to see a movie!" he announced when he waltzed in. "Give me snacks for free or I'm reporting you for sexual harassment!"

Kate rolled her eyes at him, then went for her best customer service voice. "Sir, I'm afraid I can't do that," she said. "That's against theater policy, and I'm sorry to say any harassment claims would not be accepted by the management, But if you were to buy something, I'm sure I could assist you in that."

"Hey, I have a very honest face," he said, pointing to said face. "If I were to speak to your supervisor and tell him or her that you groped me in the bathroom while I cried and thought of all the children I wouldn't have, they'd believe me!"

"Mitchell is the closest thing I have to a supervisor," Kate pointed out, dropping the act and leaning against the counter. "So, nope."

"And he's Irish like me!" Nathan reminded her even as he was pulling out his wallet so he could legally buy himself some snacks without a fake harassment claim. "There's a bond there, Kate. A bond that you cannot touch."

"Well, I think my bond with him," she drawled, "is a little deeper than your claims of Irishness. You have no idea."

Topher's ice cream ice pack had melted at some point on his hurried walk through the island to pick up computer parts, so he had no choice but to stop in the movie theater.

"Hey, can I get a -- UGH. SERIOUSLY?"

Kate echoed his sentiment wholeheartedly. And with a mild eyebrow raise. "You'd think you'd know to avoid this place."

"Like I keep track of your schedule!" he flailed. Sullenly, he mumbled, "Can I get an ice cream sandwich? I need it because SOMEONE PUNCHED ME IN THE EYE ON SUNDAY."

Box Office Guy stared at him across the hall.

Anyway, Kate gets a proper final post tomorrow in the dorms, but this is as good a place as any to say goodbye!
