It felt funny to be having her last shift after already having had a goodbye party at work, but that was what Kate was doing now. It would've felt even weirder not to work her last shift, to be honest, when she wasn't actually leaving until tomorrow – a fact which she was trying her hardest not to think about.

Luckily, she had enough things to distract herself with. She reorganized the concessions stand one last time, then wandered around the lobby taking pictures of damn near everything. She'd been ~~handwavily~~ doing that a lot elsewhere around town too, after coming back from her trip to Indonesia. She couldn't help wanting tangible proof she'd actually been here, like it was possible that once in Kansas, she'd start thinking Fandom had all been a wacky dream. Like some Dorothy.

So, she took photographs. She even snapped a few pictures of Box Office Guy, who was trying his hardest to ignore her. He was also still sniffling a bit, though he was meekly claiming it was because of Kate's pick for the day's movie, though that was... not exactly a credible excuse.

Sure, it was a vampire flick and she tended to stay away from those these days, but... Somehow, it felt appropriate for her last Fandom days, and it wasn't as if she was going to have to watch it (and she wasn't going to be able to – the main character's mom would make sure of that). Plus, Colin Farrell was hot.

MST3000 was open for business, and totally mourning the fast-approaching loss of its favorite employee.

"Hey, I'm fucking adorable!" And since Zach wasn't around, there was no one to show his ass to really. "What would I do to cause your mum stress?"

"You're unpredictable," she corrected. "You might crack an unfortunate joke or something."

"You have so little faith in me," he said, shaking his head sadly. "Besides, jokes are fucking juvenile. I tell unforgettable anecdotes."

"Well, you might tell an unfortunate anecdote," she amended, trying to reach out to flick him on the nose. "Or a far too unforgettable one."

"Or she might fucking love me and want to adopt me!" Nathan crowed, crinkling his nose. "I'm adorable and women especially seem to love me. But don't worry, I wouldn't let your mum be a cougar."

Kate rolled her eyes. "See, I just think you're the kind of guy who might take T up on one of her offers and cause a huge mess."

Wait, had she never told Nathan about the DID thing? She... was pretty sure she'd never told Nathan about the DID thing.

Oh well.

"Wait, wait, wait, who the hell is T?" Nathan asked, wondering if this was some hipster thing where Kate called her mum by her first name. "Is that was people in Kansas call their parents?"

"Uh, no, that's... actually one of my mom's alters?" Kate replied, almost apologetically. "Alternative personalities. My mom has multiple personalities. Apparently I never told you that."

"Oh yeah?" Nathan was a little surprised but he thought he wore it well. "Well, if it makes you feel better, I wouldn't go for your mum. I've had some issues with...older women."

And he gave a full body shudder at that. Never fucking again.

"Issues?"

Well, she couldn't help raising an eyebrow at that. Not when he'd shuddered like that.

"Never mind," Nathan said because there wasn't a chance he was going into that. Not right now, at least. "Let's just say your moms loins are safe from me."

Kate pulled a slight face at the wording, but shook her head at herself. "Okay. There was just this one time when T made out with my brother's crush so I'm a little skittish, but good."

"I am not going to make out with your mum," he promised, making a face. "I'm sure she's a very nice woman but I'd just think of my own mum and making out with her and while I am all about experimenting, I don't want to experiment that way. Ew."

"Eloquently put." By which she meant not at all. "Okay, so you might be welcome for a visit."

"Excellent!" Nathan clapped his hands together. "I won't even talk to your friends about your tits!"

See, he was really gonna try to be good.

"You say that like I have any friends in Kansas for you to talk about my tits to," Kate snorted. "Unless you meant my friends here."

"Hey, if anyone's willing to listen, I'd talk to them about tits but I will reign myself in for you," Nathan promised, nodding. "That's how much I care."

"Aww." That was only about half -- no, quarter mocking. "So are you gonna come by tomorrow before I go, or is this it?"

"I'll come by tomorrow," Nathan said, nodding. "I'm not gonna cry and snot on you so don't start hoping for that but yeah, I'll come by."

"I could knee you in the junk and make you shed a few tears?" Kate offered, oh so helpfully. "No, actually I think I'd prefer it if there wasn't much crying."

Because anyone else doing it was going to mean she'd definitely be doing it.

"You knee me in the junk, I'm gonna punch you in the tit," Nathan retorted. "So there."

"Ramona would break your face," Kate returned. "So there."

"It'd be fucking self defense!" Nathan exclaimed, shaking his head. "If you punch me, I get to punch you back! I've taken quite enough abuse from you already and haven't done anything. I'm due!"
