Magic Box, Friday, 9/02

Okay. So Tara knew stuff at the shop would have changed while she took four months off. She just wasn't prepared for every single spell ingredient to be locked behind some kind of safety latch. The crystal display had changed too -- it was moved higher and with the crystals swaddled in bubble wrap. And while the candles were still where they always were, the lighters and matches sold with them were locked up and the few ceremonial weapons the shop carried were missing entirely.

Had there been an influx of evil sorcerers nobody had told her about? If there had been, it seemed as likely the sorcerers had put in the protective measures to flummox every witch on the island as it was that another employee had done this stuff to make the shop safer.

Tara went to find a stepladder in hopes of getting the Magic Box back into Wiccan-friendly conditions. Well, at least it wouldn't be a dull first day back...

It was a little difficult to get finding what you needed like this, wasn't it? Locks and packing material everywhere you looked.

Kate peered at a few things, then turned her attention on Tara. "What's with all the bubble wrap?"

Kate nodded, glancing around the store. "So now, probably not the best time to restock?" she guessed, holding up her shopping list of basic herbs. She had a bit of a thing for being prepared for all eventualities, and things were dipping below the level she like.

She offered up the list. "Rosemary, water lily, knot weed... They're the main ones." Her all purpose defense back-up, because Kate was the paranoid sort when it came to keeping the bad things out of her space.

"There are probably ways to break the locks," she considered. "But you might not like what that'd do to your cupboards."

Kate found all of them worked their way into her wards in some form or other, or replenished what she kept on her for on the fly magical needs. Magic on the move, totally a legitimate need.

"Magical, not Wiccan," Kate clarified. Religion had never really sat well with her, she didn't like the idea of putting her trust in gods and goddesses. If you picked the wrong one, things could go bad fast. "And you can swear as much as you like. I would have started already if I was you." And she wouldn't have apologized for it either.

"You are Wiccan?" she guessed after a moment. It was the sort of question that made you assume as much, at least.

"Kate," she offered, wandering closer to peer at what Tara was doing. She had to smirk a little at the muttering. "Consider me one customer not put off by cursing."

"And more ish than new now," she replied. "Beginning of the summer."
