The Perk, Saturday Morning
October 1st, 2011. Kate's 18th birthday. On Fandom, anyway.
That was the big reason she was here, bright and early. She hadn't heard anything from Bod so she assumed she was in the clear as far as Silas showing up was concerned, and this was just another mundane Saturday in early September back in Kansas, so she'd hopped a portal and here she was, heading to the Perk first for a hot chocolate and a muffin for breakfast.
And being her, she sent out a mass text to all her friends she figured would be on the island on this fine Saturday:
eighteen, bitches! holding court at the perk this morning, come say hi if you're not swamped with guests.
She was so not above attention whoring when it was her birthday and her parents wouldn't acknowledge it for another month. She picked a table by the window and settled down to peoplewatch with her treats.
[ooc: Open place in town is open, whether for Kate-bothering or completely unrelated needs! And if you think you may have gotten Kate's text, you did.]

He'd slipped in a moment earlier and was now towering above her table with an amused look on his face.

Mitchell pulled him up a seat. "And that's good. I haven't exactly been shopping for birthday presents."
He could act upbeat, these days. But energized enough to go present-shopping for a teenage girl? Yeah, no.
no subject
She was kidding. She was materialistic, sure, but not enough to expect too many presents.

That would give Bod time to give Kate her presents (that he was carrying with him in a bag), kiss her and then try and prepare her. He wasn't very sure how that last one would go.
But, he forgot about his pensiveness when he saw her there, through the window.

She wasn't cool enough to not go 'eee, boyfriend!' at the sight of him, okay?

"Hullo there, birthday girl," he said when he got close enough. "It's amazing to see you today. Come here."
He was already reaching for her hand to pull her to her feet so he could kiss her.

This was nothing. Kate kissing her boyfriend with an appreciative little 'mmm' was nothing, except to her.

Topher came in with the intention of loading up on sugar before his Stark Industries shift. However, his intentions were put on hold.
"Aaaah!" he yelped, pointing at her. "New Kate!"
no subject
And not in just one of the upper threads."It's just Kate, actually."
no subject
Topher, that wasn't how it had happened at all.

He spotted Kate easily enough and slid into the chair across from her. "Hey, happy birthday."
no subject
Yeah, no.
no subject
Old, maybe.

Either way he was too old to be a junior in high school.
no subject
That would be the major thing she'd take away from that.
"Yeah, you win."
