Cabot and Associates- Tuesday

It probably shouldn't shock anyone that Hermione was feeling a little down after the weekend. She missed Ron and Harry already, and she'd be lying if she said there wasn't part of her that wondered if it might be about time to go home. But she meant what she'd told Harry. She was actually learning things from her job, things that she thought might end up being useful someday, and that kind of inspiration was something she shouldn't just leave behind.

This was easier to believe when she wasn't distracted away from all the files she was attempting to go through. Oops.

And then there was a man in a black suit and sunglasses appearing in the office. Under one arm was a package and in his other hand was a keyboard.

"Miss Herminny Granger?" he asked.

Yes, he probably butchered the name on purpose.

"United States Postal Inspection Service," K said flashing Hermione some ID. "Division Six. May I see some ID please?"

"People rarely do on this island," K said breifly looking at the ID and then handing over the clipboard. "Please sign here."

"You can see for yourself," K replied as he handed over the box which from the obscured label might have read "Weasley" and "Burrow".

"No, miss," K said with a nod. "You have a nice day."

And inside the box Herminny would find a nicely knitted sweater and a nice little note from Molly Weasley

Hey, look, someone leaning in the doorway with a fedora dipping down to cover his eyes.

Neal thought he was cool.

"Hey."

"Nope."

Neal stepped the rest of the way inside, revealing two cups of coffee, one of which he placed on her desk. "For being interrogated," he explained.

Yes, because talking to Peter was SO HARD.

"He probably background-checked you," Neal pointed out idly, sipping his own coffee. "And whoever was visiting you, if you had any guests."

Sorry.

"What, do you have something worth investigating?"

Oh, Hermione. Now you've done it.

"If you say so," Neal said, deliberately using his most obnoxiously smug voice.

Reaching into his pocket and offering her a paper bag containing a bagel, he inquired, "So what'd Peter bug you about?"

"And am I?" Neal asked, smirking a bit.

"Well. You could be made aware?"

Oh, Neal, noooo. Step back.

Never failed to surprise him.

"Suit yourself," he said. He reached up to rearrange his hat unnecessarily, then sauntered out.

Always had to make an obnoxious exit, Neal.
