Mitchell had been gone for two weeks, and, well. The other investors had made good work of that time. The building was now covered in ads for the current feature, urging people to bring their kids in for a rollicking adventure.

Looking good had never looked this good!

Or this appalled, as Mitchell arrived fresh off his portal and found himself staring.

"This had better be someone's idea of a prank."

A story about the events leading up to the sword fighting cat's meeting with the ogre and his friends.

Where Mitchell is facepalming. Face. Palming.

"Please don't tell me somebody else died," said Bo from the doorway, on observing his expression. She was only...a quarter serious? Just serious enough that she was going to be really depressed and embarrassed if the answer was yes, but she felt like the odds probably leaned her way.

Mitchell looked up, and snorted. "Not unless you mean good taste," he snarked. "How many sequels does this franchise need?"

"If they've got Antonio Banderas, Selma Hayek, and no Mike Myers," Bo retorted, "They can make as many as they want."

"I didn't see you as the 'Banderas-groupie' type," Mitchell said, pulling a face.

She shrugged. "I'm not saying it wouldn't be better with Selma Hayek and Penelope Cruz playing dance-fighting cats..." Pardon Bo; she'd be in her bunk.

Yeah, Bo, you'd earned that look. "They're cats," he said. "Animated cats."

"Speciesist." If the tone didn't indicate that she wasn't entirely serious, the tongue might.

"Sorry, I'll make my apologies to the animated cats foundation," Mitchell snarked.

"I'm sure they'll appreciate that, coming from a fellow entertainer whose claim to fame is invisibly knocking over a chair." Bo leaned on the doorframe. "So what've you been doing besides hating on small furry animals for the last few weeks?"

Mitchell exhaled a long breath of completely unnecessary air, and leaned back in his chair. "I've been at George and Nina's, mostly," he admitted. "They've got most of the house done now, but they needed some painting..."

Or, at least in George's case, mostly they just needed Mitchell to be around.

"Sounds kind of..." To anyone else, anywhere else, Bo might have said boring, or at least thought it and said something more polite, but given both the reason George and Nina had moved, and life in Fandom... "Blissfully unexciting?"

"It was nice," Mitchell said. He reached for his coffee. "The films were better."

Rather than return to defending the virtues of animated animals, Bo just smiled and asked, "Yeah? What's playing in Wales?"

"I have... no idea," Mitchell admitted. "We watched a rerun of The Man Who Graduated. It was good."

Like it had been when he'd watched it decades ago. Thank you, Mitchell.

"Ohhh, I see, they moved to Wales in 1967." Bo nodded knowingly.

So last night I wound up spending several hours - in the middle of the night - just watching Liara/Shepard videos, after finally kicking off another Mass Effect game.

My inner manic shipper might be coming back. And my inner manic Mass Effect fan (which is in my humble opinion one of the few games that loses something if you don't play female, due to the better voice-acting and the general badass-without-being-a-stereotypical-Strong-Female-Character vibe. Mmm. FemShep.)

*sighs* *puts Liara back on the potentials list...*
