The Boards, Monday [All Day]
The soundboard was out of the building when Troy arrived on Monday -- a little later than he'd planned, but still with plenty of time to work on the renovations -- and he was staring at the empty space where it had been. There were still plenty of wires running around, but Troy couldn't make head nor tail of them. "How am I supposed to plug in my laptop?" he asked, pouting pouting.
On the front of the building -- and a few more places around town, where Troy's posted them on his way to work -- there was a poster:
Troy was around, if wrestling with the seating.

Talk to Troy!
Re: Talk to Troy!
"So, you decided you could stand me for th'long haul, even if I leave you playing your music on that tiny little thing, hm?"
Yeah, the position of musical director certainly seemed to appeal to him.
"Give me five minutes and a flashlight, and I'll have that wired through th'speakers, mate. I left a few hooked up to th'power last night while I was working."
Music was a priority, here, okay?
Re: Talk to Troy!
Re: Talk to Troy!
A pause.
"Bring an extension cord."
He was working on the power! He was!
Re: Talk to Troy!
Troy carted his laptop over, clicking through to a new song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNC09zwAGjw&list=PLAB06E9E2FE5737F3&index=45&feature=plpp_video) along the way. "So the new soundboard should be here tomorrow, right? The rest of the new seats'll be here on Thursday."
Re: Talk to Troy!
Er. Should be able to get it installed in no time, mate.
Bloody hell, he missed his telepathy already.
Re: Talk to Troy!
That was. Kind of a miracle, really.
"Anything you want or need me to get for the auditions? I figured we'd at least have coffee and pastries for the people who come in."
Re: Talk to Troy!
He shouldn't have been so proud that he hadn't wound up drooling. And yet.
"Off th'top of my head? I might need to rent a guitar," he ventured. "In case anybody needs accompaniment. I used to have a Stratocaster, but for th'life of me, I don't know if I'll ever get it back, or if I do, that it'll be before th'weekend."
He reached for the extension cord, and then fiddled with a few more wires, and like magic? Excellent YouTube covers, playing on what was left of the theatre's sound system.
Re: Talk to Troy!
They couldn't make sure to have every instrument on hand, but a keyboard and a guitar seemed reasonable.
Re: Talk to Troy!
He was ambitious!
... And also hell-bent on keeping occupied so that he didn't do something stupid like start thinking too much.
"We didn't rent any instruments out while I was working there, no. Can you handle getting both back here on your own?"
Re: Talk to Troy!
He knelt down behind one of the seats, making a face. "... Pass me that bottle of extra-strength bleach?"
Re: Talk to Troy!
It was possible. People, as a general rule, were pretty disgusting, after all.
Either way, Jono was getting up and making his way over, bleach in hand.
"I'll admit that hiring someone from the island to play would make more sense," he added, thoughtfully. "Not necessarily a student, mind. There are plenty of adults on the island, too, and I wouldn't want to fail to tap a group of people for their talent based solely on age."
Plus, he remembered how much begging he had to do in order to get a band together the last time he attempted that around here.
"Either way, I can't play guitar and keyboard at once, unless I grow an extra set of arms. And so far as I know, that isn't hugely likely."
So far as he knew. And if he could, then he really, really didn't want to know.
Re: Talk to Troy!
He started spraying the bleach on what he really hoped was someone's long-dead and desiccated sandwich, and not... anything else.
"You think the island could ever give us extra arms?" he asked curiously. What? It would be interesting! Weird, but interesting. And potentially useful.
Re: Talk to Troy!
... Though, in all fairness, it was entirely possible that 616 was even more insane than Fandom. Just in very different ways.
Re: Talk to Troy!
"I'll ask around," he added, "and see if I can find someone for the auditions, at least, and if they're not interested in being hired on a longer-term basis, we can post it again?"
Re: Talk to Troy!
The possibilities were endless!
... Ish!
Re: Talk to Troy!
"That would be awesome," Troy agreed. "There, I think that's that taken care of..." He carefully wrapped up the hopefully-a-sandwich in a plastic bag, gave the floor beneath it another liberal spraying of bleach, and stood up. "... Okay, those fumes are a little strong."
Try using a little less next time, Troy.
Re: Talk to Troy!
Useful advice from someone who had spent most of the past decade without lungs!
"We're going to have to have some sort of rule about eating in th'theatre. Bottled water only in th'seating? Something like."
Re: Talk to Troy!
She paused to read the poster before stepping inside. "Hello," she said when she saw Troy. "Are you Troy?"
Re: Talk to Troy!
I promise I'm not trying to steal your boyfriend. Here about the auditions?"Re: Talk to Troy!
Azarath was a really boring place.
Re: Talk to Troy!
Re: Talk to Troy!
She blushed a little, realizing she was nearly babbling. "I am Raven," she said. "Jono might have mentioned me to you."
Re: Talk to Troy!
"And yeah, you're welcome to get together with some friends if you want, too. No one said they had to be solo acts! So if you want to join people in celebrating their stuff, that's totally cool."
