The Boards, Tuesday, All Day
Well, the new equipment had finally all arrived at the Boards, and it was safe to say that Jono was even a touch excited about it. Hardly 'a kid on Christmas morning' levels of excitement. He seldom had that much in him to spare, really. But he was at least nearly smiling a bit as he worked on getting the soundboard hooked up in the booth, and then proceeded to make his way up onto the catwalks to make certain that the lights and microphones were all connected properly, as well.
It was another Pearl Jam day, but if anyone asked, Jonothon was going to tell them that he was simply using their music in order to iron out the kinks in the system.
Wouldn't you?

Re: dear god, so NFB
"Like you?" she asked, uncrossing her arms and tentatively reaching out toward him. "'Cause I could help you. If that's what you're asking."
Re: dear god, so NFB
"What makes you think I need your help?"
THAT HAD NOT BEEN HIS POINT, MILEY. GOD.
Re: dear god, so NFB
"Well, you were pushing the 'helping people' thing kinda hard," she pointed out. "I figured it was a you thing. Is that... wrong?"
Re: dear god, so NFB
Now he was contemplating reaching out to shake her by the shoulders.
Honestly, now.
Re: dear god, so NFB
A beat.
"Like what?"
Re: dear god, so NFB
"Is there anything in the world that you're passionate about? Children? They sure as hell seem passionate about you, don't they?"
Re: dear god, so NFB
SO CONFUSING, JONO. SO MANY MIXED SIGNALS.
Re: dear god, so NFB
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Sigh.
"Get creative, Miley. Pick a children's hospital. I can get you a list, if you like. Write letters to some child there with a terminal illness. Volunteer to come in and read to them. Gather up some friends to do the same. Donate to some community program that benefits kids. A music school or something, perhaps. You can't honestly tell me you've never in your life seen people who couldn't benefit from some kindness for once in their lives!"
Re: dear god, so NFB
Out came her phone so that she could Google some possible children's hospitals. As she waited for the page to load, she asked, "You do this stuff a lot?"
Re: dear god, so NFB
"Used to work at a school, once," he shared, shrugging a bit. "Spent time with th'children that could stand to be near me. Threw myself into harm's way on a regular basis in order to help people being persecuted for th'very deplorable crime of simply existing."
So, yes, Miley.
Re: dear god, so NFB
"Yeah, you know, I was looking for something a little more sincere," Miley teased, mouth quirking upward in a little smile.
Had they reached that point in their relationship yet? Nope. Probably not. Did she care? No.

Re: dear god, so NFB
Immediately, her brain started whirring with thoughts of puppies and little kids. This was going to be a breeze.
Re: dear god, so NFB
"Deal."
That, at least, he could count as some sort of victory.
... Probably.
